Wanted- Restaurant reviews
« on: May 24, 2013, 07:07:58 AM »
Nobody seems to be talking about restaurants any more , we have booked the Small House for 1st week and are thinking of booking again for our last night . Are you all still enjoying it as much?

I agree we need some more posts on here to cheer us all up whilst we're waiting fot summer to arrive, looks like it might be a long wait. We're off to Somerset in our caravan for whitsun week. Just saw the forecast and they've  predicted heavy rain and gales for later today. Looks like we'll be battening down the hatches yet again, just unpacked my summer stuff and back comes out the jumpers, knew I was being a bit optomistic. All I can say is thank gawd for DVS a fridge full of vino and a good club in walking distance. Probably pop up to Asda and stock up on Efes then we can sip a cold one in our rocking rain slashed caravan dreaming of August when we'll be in Kalkan for eighteen fab nights and looking forward to a visit to the §mall house for the first time, it sounds great. Well everyone here in the UK have a good bank holiday try and keep warm and dry and you lucky devils in Kalkan, soak in some rays for us and sink a cold one or three.
 Cheers

I'll be posting when we are in Kalkan, I promise. Just over a week till we go  ;D ;D
I haven't booked any restaurants in advance - never do - not even those we've been to lots of times before and really love. I'd rather just let the mood take us whilst we're there. We'll try Small House - not bothered about the balcony table - and if we can't get in, we can't get in. C'est la Vie :) There are so many lovely places to eat it won't be a hardship. We tend to go back to the restaurant that has been the favourite of the trip for our last night, with the exception of last year when it was the only date we could get into Escudo so we took a chance. It was nice and we enjoyed the meal but it wasn't among my top 3 on that trip and I was sorry that we had spent our last evening there, in all honesty ::)

Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt :)

I'm looking forward to your holiday K4E.....she said in a weird stalker-like way!  ;D
We do the same with restaurants.....always do a vote on which of our favourites to return to on the last night.....I would hate it if we got it wrong on our last night there!

Well we were there from 8 - 22nd May. Over way too soon. We ate in Akin (opposite Doy Doy) twice - excellent food.
Isos once - the lamb chops were really tough, we did say so but they just shrugged their shoulders.
Ate at Merkez twice - excellent. Ate ate the on e on the taxi roundabout by Brave Tours, good food, lots  of mozzies.
Ate at Cafe Vita twice - good food. Doyum - appeared good value till the bill came. We had two plates of meze and that pushed the bill up to a surprise. Ate at the New Indian of Peters, lovely curry, nice treat and superb views. Begonville - lovely food again. Chillies - the Mexican chicken was lush. Oz Adana - lovely food, they are not licensed for alcohol though.
I think that was most of them. I noticed that wine and Efes is more expensive this year!

Well Agent K4E, like Babs, I am so much looking forward to hearing your holiday reports. I hope you are going to undertake secret agent BL's orders as instructed and have packed your disguise/bling, to enable us shivering plebs to gain access to sensitive information regarding liver addling potions, tummy filling delights and  secret clubs near beaches! I know we can trust you to take your mission seriously and look forward to your feedback with giddy anticipation!!!!  ;D no pressure of course!  ;D 8)

Gourmet was bloody excellent last night. First time for me/our party. Best food I've ever had in Kalkan! A little pricey though - and unfair to compare with others such as Kucuk Ev, Chillies etc. second evening visit to Cafe Ev tonight and that will be excellent too...

We got back from Kalkan last Saturday (I know I am a little overdue for my holiday report.  (Not been well, suffering from a cold and bad head, b.....y aeroplanes.)  Ate at Mussakka for the first time this year, food was excellent; not cheap but not prohibitively expensive.  Sade continue to be excellent, ate there twice.  We return to Kalkan in September and will be there for our wedding anniversary.  We have booked a table at Sade already to celebrate.  Merkez and Fener continue to be excellent value for money.  New find for us was Cafe Ev, what a find.  Well recommended.  Hubby said their marinated lamb was the best meal he had ever had in his life.  The Rose was another excellent meal and very good value for money.
