Best Kalkan Beach club for young kids

Hello,

I will be in Kalkan at the end of August for a week with my wife and 2 year old son. I know Kalkan can be difficult with children but we have a child backpack and are in shape and very much want to see this beautiful city. My only concern is the beach clubs. I colleague of mine in Istanbul says Kalkan Beach Club (where we had read there is a small sand area for kids) was closed this year. Is this true?! If so, other than the public beach, where should we go? I know Patara can be reached by taxi but I was really counting on a family friendly beach club in Kalkan. Any thoughts? Thanks!

If you want sand you will need to go to Patara or Kaputas. Patara is probably best for young children as you can get some shade there plus the steps down and back at Kaputas could be difficult with a little one. I didn't go to Kalkan Park Beach Club last month but there was certainly a water taxi going to it from the harbour. I don't recall a sand area for children there though but it is a few years since we last went. The town beach is perfectly suitable for small children providing they have sturdy beach shoes (Crocs or similar) as it is large pebbles. Also Palm Beach Club does have an area where you can walk into the sea which they tend to keep for families with small children - again the shoes are a must here as it is pebbles too. I would suggest if you have a pool this would be the best place for a toddler. Enjoy

I think what your colleague may be referring to is the closure of the kiddies play area that was affected by the rock fall in Feb see:

Kalkan Beach Park is open and has a larger beach area than Palm Beach, it also has a water slide and a couple of canoes. In my opinion it is the best beach club for young children.

Thanks for your thoughts. Good to hear Kalkan Beach Park is still open, a little scary to think about the rock slide in the children's area. Hopefully the incident has increased safety precautions. Cheers.

Doesn't seem to have. Path underneath is open and no obvious work done to prevent any further falls.

The path is meant to be closed and there are warning signs but we walked along it last month - albeit a little faster than I would normally walk, almost broke into a jog to get past the obvious bit...

Kalkan Beach Park is nowhere near the area of the rockslide, which was at kalkan beach.  Kalkan Beach Park is on the other side of Kalkan Bay, in Kisla.  It is completely unaffected by the rock slide.

You can go there by road -  taxi or car  - or by boat from the harbour.

It has a water slide and trampoline and a great small beach area which is perfect for children.

It is a private facility, nothing to do with the Belediye.  The price of food and drink is reasonable and of you have drinks/snacks there, there is no charge for the sun loungers and umbrellas.
