Phew!! just booked a solo trip for this Sat  one week at the happy hotel kalkan, first time I have holidayed abroad on my own and as I am a mature lady I am feeling slightly daunted, if anyone can give me any advice/reassurance I will be eternally grateful.

you will be fine Rosemary, i go there every year alone, and have no problems in anywhere i go in Kalkan, in fact just a few minutes ago, i saw the weather forecast for Bristol next week and cant decide whether to book a cheap flight out on Saturday or not, unfortunately the hotels and transfers arent any cheaper but hey ho.

Thanks Kalkan Kitty, feel a little better about this whole solo thing now, I just didn't want to look like billy no mates and feel conspicuous, got a package via travel republic from b'ham which includes flight, tranfers and hotel which I thought was a pretty reasonable price.................Rosemary

:) Hello Rosemary. You have nothing to worry about. The only rule is to be friendly and people will be automatically start talking. In my humble opinion do try the Parc & Kaya, Food is good and people will start to ask how you are, if it be the  friendly staff or us locals, but after saying that the Turkish people all wish to be friendly  :-* :-* I may see you about inshallah  :) :)

Dear Rosemary

I must ask - how did you get on?  I do hope you had a great time.  I have been to Kalkan on a number of occasions (and am off there again a the end of this week) but have never gone alone although I am thinking about renting an apartment for several months when I retire in a couple of years.

Hope you had a good holiday.

Best wishes.

JanB
