Will's reports really do make a mockery of people who come on here and start being negative about things without even trying them. As I said earlier to find a 2 course meal in a 5 star hotel for 20 pounds anywhere would be very difficult.

Derya
I had not noticed people being negative, they are just expressing their opinion about the high prices in Kalkan. Many people who have posted about this issue either live in Kalkan or visit often and are also well ytravelled withing Turkey. Surely they are entitled to their view, even if not everbody agrees with it?

It would appear that so far only Will has been - anyone else tried it?
As Em1 says everyone is entitled to their opinion and from rereading the posts they seem to be aimed at the continuing rise of prices in Kalkan as opposed to other areas of Turkey

Baggers - to get to the Regency, walk along the Kalamar Road (at the roundabout where Kaya Restaurant is located, take the road which is more or less directly opposite Kaya, this is Kalamar road) The Regency is about a 6 minute walk from here, located on a side turning (well signposted) on the left hand side of the main road.

And Derya, just in case you are tempted, it's a 3 course meal, plus lots of nan bread, chapatis, poppadoms, home made chutneys etc. and the pudding was amazing - made of a light, slightly sweet grain-  a bit like a cuscus but more souffle-like - flavoured with fresh orange and toasted almonds, served with ice cream.  It was so good, I had two, no extra charge

They also do an equally good vegetarian option for the main course, as well as lamb, beef and chicken.

Em 1  - surely your sentiments must also apply to Derya's post, she too is entitled to her opiniion.  This thread was originally about the Indian night at the Regency.  It then attracted several comments from people who had not been there and yet had made up their mind in advance that it was overpriced. The thread then wandered into general comments about food prices in Kalkan but if you look at the heading of this thread it is about the Indian night at the Regency hotel, not prices in Kakan.  Derya is simply pointing out that to pass comment about whether or not something is value for money when you know nothing about the product or service being offered is negative.

Enjoy your meal blaggers and Derya

The trouble is that a lot of folks think Turkey is as cheap as it was 5-10 years back, its not.
£20 for a good curry night with all the trimmings,in 5 star surroundings, sounds good to me.
how much would you pay for a simlar night down by the harbour.
EFES TIME AGAIN !

Thanks for the informative post, Will. I'm fairly regular at the Kalkan Regency anyway and am already looking forward to the added variety these nights will offer.

Hi dancing ninja
Based on the portions we were served, one meal would be more than adequate shared between 2 children but you could send a message to Ash, the owner's son via this website and come to some arrangement.

We found them to be very accommodating

Will
