Would it be possible for any of you lucky residents to supply a list of restaurants and bars that have closed
and new ones that are opening ?
I know that info has been posted about some changes going on,but a full list could provide useful.

                                                      Thanks,Neil. 8)

With this info perhaps the very useful restaurant map could be updated. I tried to update mine but it wouldn''t let me make changes.

As a Kalkan resident I do see businesses come and go every season. However, it''s a little early to know yet who has survived the closed season and will re-open and those who have given up and will try to sell or just remain empty. All will come clearer in April or so.

Hi Sue,

I just got back from Kalkan yesterday ( long weekend, 4 nights ) doing similar to what you want to do, I would say most of the shops are open, thinking about it I cant remember seeing any not open, although I could be wrong, as I did not visit all the shops in Kalkan ! ! !     I would say there are approx 10ish restaurants open, albeit no bars are open

Friends of ours Mehmet (who works for Adda Tour) and Mutlu are opening a new restaurant this year where the old Lykia Restaurant used to be, it will be called Nar (which means Pomegranate) and sounds like it will be very nice. They took us up to the roof terrace and the views of the harbour and sea are amazing.
Obviously we wish them lots of luck.

So Arif has closed Likya?  It is indeed a lovely location, if sometimes suffering from loud music from Yali and Pasha. Mrs E was also once hit by falling cutlery from the terrace, which I hope was a one-off!

I would hope that my lady lizard loved me enough to jump in front of flying cutlery protecting me from injury!!

For fork''s sake, of course she does, even if you are on EK, stirring things up!  Mrs E was hit by a knife but happily not injured.  Needless to say, everything was my fault for having chosen to visit Arif for a beer or more.....

Maybe it''s the quality of my IT equipment, but this website shows nothing more than a patch of red flock wallpaper!

Try again Eniste, working perfectly for me and we will definitely go along and give it a try.  If the website is anything to go by, seems a fairly upmarket joint!

Wow! This looks good! I''ll be adding this to the list for June.  Am determined to try out some different places this year and not just the usual favourites.

I''ll try on an electric machine, rather than the steam-driven PCs we have in the Civil Service!  I hope the website will mention that Likya''s loos were once voted as second best in Kalkan, just behind Ibo''s

UPDATE - just found it, looks lovely, although I hope that wasn''t the menu in Arabic on the bookings page.  It would be good to know whether they brought in their own team or kept any of Arif''s lads on

Naughty Eniste - I hope your boss isn''t on EK too!
Currently have a duplex apartment in Kiziltas which we visit as often as we can.

He agrees with me on the quality (or lack of it) of our IT.  He has a place in Spain, so wouldn''t understand about restaurants that don''t plan to serve egg and chips with Watneys Red Barrel!

Wow I have just had a look at that new web site for the Nar it looks really funky. Will be definately giving it a try when I come out in May. Does anyone know what sort of food it will be serving and what sort of price range? It looks quite up market who knows maybe it will give the coast boys a run. I do hope the Nar will be serving cocktails ? :) What an original name!

Yes, think I''ll give it a go too.  Pricing from the first to try would indeed be useful.  Bill

Couple of other changes we noticed at Easter:  Ivy is closed & Zia is now working at Trio; Daphnes looks like that''s gone; Paprika seems to have re-opened as BarCode and the 2 restaurants opposite Merkez / Olive Garden have changed names - never tried them before in 5 years - may try them now

Surely Daphnes hasn''t gone. Can anyone else verify this please.
