I hope Pasha is open this year Neil.....and i also hope Daphnes is open,we were going to try Lamb with apricots!!

Yusuf was going to Kalkan to open the bar at the end of april and his brother Emre is in kalkan now,so hopefully it is open,other wise the swan might become my new local !

Ive never tried Daphnes,when I am with the missus we tend to eat in places we know,but inthree weeks I am out with my brother and two mates and we will eat anything,so we will try places I have never eaten at before,should be interesting,can you reccommend any good eating places Mr Lizard,maybe something a bit different ? you sound like you like a good feeding.

Daphne''s is one of my favorite restruants.....never had a bad meal there celebrated my birthday twice staff are brilliant and nothing is to much trouble. Asian stir fry is the dish I always go for superb

It would be a shame if Daphne''s closed but it''s one of those places that goes under the radar for me. We''ve been, had a lovely meal and then drinks on the terrace outside. It was a nice evening, but we''ve never gone back...and I couldn''t tell you why we''ve never gone back
I can only think we have been coming to Kalkan for a few years now and have developed our favourites and combined with a few nights in so my BH can show off his BBQ skills there doesn''t seem room to try anywhere else. So many restaurants...so little time

I have it from Mehmet himself that he will not be running Daphne this year. Some of the staff from there are already in Aubergine.

Its a splendid building though in a good location. Surely it will re open as something else.

With all the coming and going,staff moving ect,I am sure you will be able to track down your fave meal,Mr Lizard,the chef must have gone somewhere,unless he has left Kalkan,but another place must sell the lamb dish surely.

Next best thing...rack of lamb cooked in cassis and served with a rich lamb and cassis gravy...wonderful. Aubergine speciality, but you need to order it in advance.

last time i went to Aubergine i grew a beard while i waited.....i could have read war and peace the time it took for dindins to arrive!!!  i won''t be going back...whats cassis anyways?

We were in Kalkan 15-22 April and Pasha Bar was open every night.

We also visited Aubergine and waited an eternity for our main course! Apparently (even though it was less than half full) a number of people turned up at the same time. Goodness knows how they will manage in the summer. My wife enquired whether she could substitute another form of potatoes (or rice_for the mash offered with a dish. She was told that''s what it came with and if she didn''t like mash she should order a side dish!! When the meal arrived over an hour later, lo and behold a plateful of mash. Needless to say after a number of years visiting there we shan''t be returning.

Great news about pasha bar,thanks, I would have been out of aubergine in half an hour,never dined at aubergine and I dont think I will,sounds like all pants and no trousers

Just to balance things up.

We visited Aubergine for the first time last week, not sure why we never got round to it before, and were pleasantly surprised. Food was excellent, didn''t notice any delay and very reasonably priced at 90TL for 3 of us (two courses plus beers for 2 adults and a spagetti bolognese for our daughter).

We visited Aubergine twice during the Easter week and each time it was superb.  No long waits and cetainly no more expensive than any of the other restaurants we ate in.  Lovely, welcoming staff.  We definitely shall be returning in July!
