Bit off thread i know but I was amazed at the cost of petrol, 3.29YTL / litre. Thought I''d just bought the filling station when I filled up the hire car. No wonder it only had a teaspoon of fuel when I collected it.

Hi,

Among other favourite tipples we bought a box of wine at Stansted, which was''nt exactly cheap but nowhere near as pricey as over in Kalkan.

Hi
I''ll have a bottle of that cheap red and white that Kevincat was talking about. It might not taste good, but nice colours! Fancy joining me Misty?

ha ha love to but I cant drink red wine turns out I''m allergic to it !!! and funny enough so is my wife (and pilchards) LOL

My thoughts on white wine...the dearer the wine the worst it tastes !!!!! I was given a very expensive white wine £30 plus and it was not as nice as my regular one from Aldi''s £2.99 !!!!

Wine is like art to many pretentious people and a case of emperors new cloths syndrome...

Jacquiviva...did you say "How much??" with a Turkish/Yorkshire accent???...cos that''s what I heard when I read it

Has to be my favourite Turkish saying when in Fethiye Market...has me in stitches ;D ;D ;D

Think I''ll switch to water with my meals in Kalkan from now on..
Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt :)

We decide where we eat by the price of the Angora on average we paid about 25 ytl. In the supermarket in September it was about 10 or 11. Another nice wine was Dikman or Dikmat that was a good price too plus you can buy litre bottles of it.

I suppose we wouldn''t be allowed to bring a box of wine in our suitcase then??
Currently have a duplex apartment in Kiziltas which we visit as often as we can.

Hi
I have often packed a wine box in my suitcase. It always arrives in one piece at the other end! Gatwick often sell 3 bottles for £15 of some nice wines too...

The wine has gone up a lot this year, we''re having just 2 bottles now instead of 3 with our meals.

Not everywhere is charging so much for the wine.

Deniz restaurant by the harbour and the Kebab House both charge 20 ytl for a bottle of Angora red. Omars Kitchen had a drinkable house red (Mystic I think) for 12 lira a bottle, available in Yali for 9 ytl a bottle.
