Oh Headroom, I''d rather go blind by Chicken Shack, what an awesome track!!!
I almost chose As Good As it Gets...the next best line in response to "the gay neighbour" telling JN he loved him..."Buddy, if that did it for me, I''d be the luckiest man alive..." Fabulous film!
Similarly in Terms of Endearment when Shirley McLaine tells JN she loves him as he''s just about to go into the airport and she calls him back because he didn''t respond...he delivers the classic "inches from a clean getaway..!"
Is Jack the greatest actor of our generation??
Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt :)

The tracks I chose were difficult to decide on; I learned about Buena Vista social club almost by accident whilst listening to radio 2 and Billy Bragg played them, this track is so evocative of sunny climes, played by a Cuban band it would be I guess, Billy Bragg said "I urge you to buy the album", I did! you can listen to the track on this link. www.youtube.com/watch?v=6JEdf7XsV5g the other tracks? if you don''t know them, "I urge you to give them a listen, I love to share music!
As for Jack Nicholson yes surely up amongst the best!

Hello Joan,
I''ve just joined this forum ''cos looking at little snippets on Enjoy Kalkan site piqued my interest.  What book & who was the jailbird that Neil had referred to in his Desert Island Discs list ?  I''m intrigued to know.  I could only find your response.
I''m coming (going if you''re here in England too) to Kalkan 8/9/08 for 2 weeks.  Hurrah!  This will be my 10th time (I think) & I''m a mature singleton so making a few new contacts ahead of time via the web seemed a good idea for my social life.
I''m a G&T girl myself and would say Bombay Sapphire''s the best.  But lime in it is sooo much better than lemon !

Hi Lesley,
Glad you found us and hope you will become a regular contributor.
Re your question the book is "Bronson" by Charles Bronson. His real name is Michael Peterson and he has his own website. Just google Charles Bronson- prisoner and you will find out more.
I hope you are working on your Kalkan Desert Island Discs?

This correction needs a new thingy, it was Steve Vai not Eddie - sorry. Did anyone notice or care? My hubby did!!!

Also, the Karate Kid''s bits were actually played by Ry Cooder. But, as you said, who cares? ;)

(I''m working on my Desert Island Discs list too, but it''s really hard)!

Specially for Joan:

1.   Matchbox 20 - You won''t be Mine
2.   Train - Drops of Jupiter
3.   Toploader - Only for a While
4.   Toni Braxton - Unbreak my Heart
5.   REM - Losing My Religion
6.   Neil Diamond - Love on the Rocks
7.   Queen - These are the Days of our Lives
8.   David Cassidy - Could it be Forever?
9.   Erasure - A little Respect
10.  Level 42 - Lessons in Love

The book I''d take would be Life of Pi by Yann Martel, although I''d love to read anything left by previous desert islanders.

My film I think would be Dirty Dancing (so I can practice my moves, lol)

I''m afraid to say my luxury item would be my Crackberry.  Yes, I know I''m a saddo, but it''s been very aptly named.

I like being a dark horse - never been called that before. :D

Sorry, not into Terry at all - too fantastical for me, though my son was & we used to see TP driving a lovely old Alvis round Salisbury when we lived there. He always wore amazing hats!

Finally got round to doing this, it took me forever to narrow down my song list but here it goes;

Mr Bojangles- like most versions of this and it has been covered so many times
Disco 2000- Pulp
On Days Like these- Matt Munro
If you''re not the one- Daniel Bedingfield
Dakota- Stereophonics
Be my baby- Ronettes
Dancing Queen- Abba
Mr Brightside- The Killers

Book is really difficult to chose but would have to be Watermelon- Marian Keyes. Great, easy beach read.

Film- Dirty Dancing (just for Patrick Swayze mmmm)

Luxury item- Am I allowed to take Jon ?? Who said I wasn''t a romantic ? ;)

Love "Dirty Dancing" too girls
Martyn - James Brown was fantastic, all that energy. I always have to get up and dance to his tracks.
