Where to eat 2014
« on: February 26, 2014, 08:55:41 PM »
Hello again everyone!

So here is my usual thread about where to eat when I head over to Kalkan in September this year, staying at Pasha again.

Here is my thread from last time when I came on honeymoon:
http://enjoykalkan.com/forum/index.php?topic=9207.msg61879#msg61879

So where is good since 2012?! My fave places last time were Gourmet, Aqua Cafe and Fener.

Where is new? Where are the best places and your secret tips?

Cheers

Bez

Hi Bez, KTLN usually do a few updates during late March/April about what's new in Kalkan for the coming season which includes a section about restaurants/bars which will also detail any changes to establishments, personnel and names. We are wondering if this is the year, Breeze, BBQ, Korner AKA Kalkan Kebap doesn't have a name change ;)
There will certainly be some changes for Fener, which is one of those you have listed and I think Aqua may have gone....? I get mixed up with that and Mango. If you haven't been to Kalkan since 2012, you can catch up with last years changes on KTLN under the "what's new for Kalkan" heading. www.turkishlocalnews.com
As you're not out until September I would take notes from people's holiday reports in the lead up to your own break to get a flavour (did you see what I did there...?) of those places that seem the most popular.
Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt :)

Thanks K4E.

The KLTN stuff is really helpful and I will keep an eye on here this year.

Hoping to find a few secret gems! :)

Kalkan Kebab changing to something else is very good news for me..........We walked out last year......first time ever in Kalkan !

The service was atrocious right from the start. Not cleaning the dirty table we were sat at.....Then once we asked them to do it..one side was done and the other side ignored....Then the " so called " waiter tried to force a bottle of water on us,ignoring the fact I had said no to it..they continued to poor it out pretending his English was poor.........Biggest load of tosh...He knew exactly what he was doing.

Tony the manager was friendly enough but the whole team did not have a clue !!

Funnily enough, although on this occasion,we walked out straight away,we had gone the previous week and although the service was still really bad..............the kebabs were very nice.

STILL SO GLAD ITS CLOSING THOUGH !!!

We don't know that Mayday1..? KC just says they have gutted the building, may still resurface as Kalkan Kebap this year. We didn't try it last year but your comments make me glad we didn't...in fact, I don't think we've been there since it was called Breeze..? Although this place has changed its name for the past 5 years...maybe more..?
