First Holiday in Kalkan- Advice needed!
« on: May 14, 2013, 01:49:06 PM »
Hi all,

I have been observing the website on and off since we booked our holiday in February and now we only have a month to go!!!!  ;D

Please can I ask you all some general advice?

1) We have been collecting holiday money in Euros, a schoolboy error as most of you quote in TL! Will they accept Euros?

2) What are the "must dos" and "must sees"?

3) My boyfriend wants to buy some fake polo shirts, where is the best place for these?

4) Is there a decent supermarket to buy meat etc. for bbq?

Thanks to all in advance  ;)

Hi, we went for the 1st time last year and have 25days to go !!
The best exchange  rate is there , it's free in all the the jewellers / phone shops . They like English but I'm sure they will b happy with euros .
There r lots of supermarkets and last year there was 2 butchers , but we found the kebab shop up the top so cheap it was not even worth thinking about cooking . For 4 of us ,drinks and a main meal £12.
Most restaurants usually give you wonderful pitta bread and dips even the kebab shop .
Last bit of advice is milk is called sut .
Hope you love it. Ops be careful of your shoes no heels or wedges and shoes with grip not new , bit hilly

you will be able to spend euros...the airport accepts them in duty free and in kalkan i would just change them for ease of spending
supermarkets sell just about everything...especially Yali and Migros the two largest...but try A101 or Bim for everday things at very reasonable prices(like aldi or lidl)..all of these are near the market area
for fake polos the market is fine..you can try them on first which i would do as two of the same size doesn't mean two of the same size!!...don't forget to do a deal!! especially if you are buying more than 1 ;)
you will be there at the same time as us
People Of Britain.. When your missus asks "Does my bum look big in this? Never say "Dunno your blocking the light."... just sayin ????

 ta ta for now

We found Bim very reasonable for chicken last year and we bought steak from Bulent the butcher whose shop is almost opposite the old school. Yali and Migros have fresh meat counters in their stores if you fancy getting everything in the one place.
Hope you have a great stay :)
Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt :)
