I really wouldn't...Kosk is the only restaurant in Kalkan I would never try again.

Agreed, you have to judge on your own experience.

Have a look at my Trip Advisor review if you're interested. There were a few poor reviews around the same time. Maybe we just caught them on an off night but you never get a second chance to make first impression, as they say, and for me, they blew it. There are too many superb restaurants in town, old favourites and those still to be discovered to return to any that fall below the standard you require.

Best of luck if you go to Kosk, you'll probably have a great experience. I really hope you do. I won't be back though.

Just a quick question, Nicky. Do you know if the Pirat has WiFi by the pool or in the rooms now? Last time we were there they only had it in reception area.

I think Kosk is now living on its name and has slipped as the years have gone on... Thats my humble opinion before I'm pounced on......

Yes Mightyaphrodite they have Wifi by the pool.
I seem to have started quite a discussion with recommending Kosk!!! We can only speak as we find as we had 2 really good nights there.

In the interests of research we gave Kosk a try based on Nickys report, we were a bit sceptical as we had a poor meal at Kosk 5 years ago but had a great meal this time, really good service and lovely food (especially the mash!)

Im not sure if it has been taken over as everyone is in Samira Group shirts, whilst it may not have "a view" the atmosphere inside was lovely. The staff couldnt do enough for us, they even Googled how to make a cocktail we both like that wasnt on the menu

All in all a great night, thanks Nicky for the recommendation.

I thought Kosk was always part of the Samira Group?  When we stayed at the Samira in 2007, guests were offered discounts if they ate there as it was owned by the same people. 

We've never been but have heard lots of good things so might have to try it this year

This is all very interesting as on our 1st visit 2 years ago we went to Kosk 3 times and loved it the food was really good and nice friendly staff etc and was very cheap in comparison to some in town. So last year it was one of our "must trys" and we were bitterly disappointed mainly for the staff attitude they all looked sooooooooooo miserable it was like being at a wake so that was it for us we have never been back which we always said was a shame. Having read all good comments on here now we will prob try again in August, I do know the staff have all changed cos some of the old staff are still around but at different restaurants and yes it has always been owned by Samira group they must have just got their finger out and sorted it out which is good news.

We found the staff to be very friendly Chrissy and you could have a good laugh with them, especially one young lad who didn't speak much English, he'd bring our coffee and chocs then pinch a chocolate for himself!! As you say, they've perhaps sorted themselves out. There was also a young guy there when we went and he was obviously a new recruit as he'd dash about like he was on wheels not really knowing what he was doing! We thought he was the image of the Glaswegian comedian Kevin Bridges! (unless that was just the Raki!)
