Storms in Kalkan this week
« on: February 08, 2012, 11:37:00 AM »
Anyone else had problems with the storm in Kalkan this week?    If you live there did you have any damage or if you are elsewhere have you had news from a local agent or friend of problems at your property?

A neighbour reported to our local agent that a large tree had come down in our front garden and had fallen across the road.

It sounds as if it was a wild night in Kalkan.    I hope that not too many have suffered damage to their property.

There were pretty high winds with heavy rain and hail. A tree blew down in my street too. Lots of broken pots, tiles of the roof and many a restaurant sign will have to be replaced. But this is not unusual for Kalkan in the winter!

Half our roof (tiles and 2 layers underneath) has completely blown off causing water damage to the upstairs-its a complete mess!
Luckily our property managers are fab and Intasure are on the case already making it rain proof until they can repair it when the rain has gone-I cant praise them enough.
This is our 3rd claim on the insurance in 6 months! No doubt our premium will go through the roof! Does anyone have any other insurers they recommend in case our premiums are too high?

Very sorry to hear about your storm damage Annav.    Much worse than our lost tree, although it was a very mature tree and we are sad about it.

Our agents have e-mailed saying they have 9 villas with damage in this storm.    Only one other place they look after has lost a mature tree.

Hope you are soon able to get things put right.   It is certainly great to have good property managers on the spot to sort things out when so many of us live far away.

Summer will be on the way before too long .............

Hope everyone is  OK, nice to know some management companies report to villa/apartment owners quite quickly if there is any  damage , so can get sorted out , nowt worse than rain getting into property through roof damage . Just as important also hope all local  property and businesses OK,  especially in current economic climate . Main thing is no one is hurt, can always replace everything else , cannot replace the lovely Kalkan folk themselves.  71 sleeps to go before we revisit paradise
