Any minute now, Postman Pat should come up the drive with his delivery - one Water Hammock, from Gardeners World, thanks to the link from Bob & Jayne. So excited - I could crush a grape!

I have just given you a "Thank You" click Antler.   That is for the pleasure you give so many of us reading your holiday blogs.   The blogs remind us of all the good things awaiting us in Kalkan - I have just been away for a few days and am now tempted to leave my suitcase out ready for packing again.  Will seeing the case make the holiday seem nearer?

Almost time to start counting sleeps.

Thanks, Tortoise Lady!

Preparations are underway, unlike the diet. I just hope the weight gain is coming from the fat converting to muscle due to the pain on the treadmill?

I even bought some new music to help shed the pounds - Now That's What I Call Running, 3 CD boxed set. It's ever so good in the car, it makes you get home quicker and you don't get out of breath.

Just written to Captain Osman, attempting to book a day out on Yildiz 2. I see he is on Facebook, with lots of friends and photos of him and his family in the snow in Istanbul?

Cheers

its exactly the same as the one I have and I think you may have guessed, I'm pretty smitten ::) Unless Antler takes it to his local swimming baths, I suspect the first time he tries it out will be in Kalkan - can't wait for that post ;)
Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt :)

I would like to get one of these for our June trip, can anyone tell me how big they are to pack. We are travelling with hand luggage so need to know if they will fit in a standard size bag.

Regards

Alan

they fold up into a handy little bag (included) which I would say its about 2ft square and they are extremely light.

BEWARE!  There is a downside to the water hammock :'(  My OH falls asleep floating around the pool lying on it and I can't get him out so that I can have a nice swim without bumping into him!  I might just have to resort to hiding it this year if he doesn't agree to restrict the amount of time he spends on it.  If I lie on it he just stares daggers at me until I get off it which is not relaxing at all!  You have been warned ;)

stupid question, but whats the advantage of a water hammock over an old fashioned (and significantly cheaper) li-lo??

With a water hammock you are more or less floating in the water rather than on top of it as you do with a traditional li-lo.   The bottom half is mesh.   It is therefore more cooling on a very hot day.   I would say the downside is (apart from family squabbles as to whose turn it is!) the danger of getting sunburn because you feel so cool you may not realise you are getting burnt.   But they are certainly great.

Thank you all for the water hammock chat. I have been looking at them for a while and my son has now ordered the suggested one for his father for Fathers Day. Looking forward to it arriving soon and being able to have a go in July ( if hubby will let me) Thank you Bob and Jayne for the link. :D
