so where is the water!!!!!
« on: June 23, 2011, 08:53:19 AM »
After days of no water in this heat, it came on for 2 days and this morning is off again! Now what is the problem?
Fat lot of good these new pumps are, any ideas as to how long it's off for now? Really fed up with this as i am sure everyone else is. I have no pool or back up tank so am well and truly stuffed.

Perhaps its a pressure issue as it trys to get back to normal. Our pressure was still very low yesterday.

Is this what they call water torture :'(......please please please sort this out.

I have a young baby, no pool or water reserve...this is becoming a huge problem for me. Again, does anyone know what's happening?

I was told to-day that a small part, not  the pump failed . They have been to Fethiye to get a replacement and the water will  back on soon.

Its really odd I have been to some of the hottest and less developed places in the world to work and the one thing that has never been an issue is water....always on tap no problesm with swimming pools toilets etc, in some places the gardens are always kept lush and green we even had a golf course in the desert :) :) :)

:( You really could'nt make it up could you? Its like a scene from Fools & Horses!

Its a little bit strange that at about 1pm yesterday our water went off in old town & today my oh my it went off again at about 1pm? Yesterday it was a burst pipe? Today a small part was faulty? I will wait with bated breath for the excuse tomorrow! Will it be Marsians have taken pump? Its been fitted to blow not suck? Its the wrong colour? Who knows?  :'( :'( :'(

It has become a farce of the worst kind, perhaps it's now been sabbotaged by the water sellers! In years to come people will talk about where they were during the great pump failure of 2011

You are FROM a less developed place and I'm sure the Pompey council keeps the water flowing!  I've been to parts of the Middle East and Asia where water supply has been a given but also to others where there were regular problems, but most of these were large cities where you would expect there to be alternatives when problems arise.  Let's keep everything crossed again that the supply remains and improves.

Let us not be rude about Pompey and surrounding areas - getting personal!!!!  >:D I totally agree with the comments Misty has made - desalination plants can cure the problem once and for all, and found in some surprisingly "undeveloped countries".   Will not mention here in southern UK, have just had another torrential downpour, and yet we are in a drought situation ??? ???   Not to rub it in, have just had a bath and washed my hair

maryjane you've got me thinking.....would I rather be in soggy Southern England where there is plenty of water both in and out or in sunny Kalkan with water shortages......let me think!
no, no contest....shame I have to wait till October!

but to those of you who are suffering from real hardship, i.e. with small children, no large water tank, losing guests, you have my sympathy

You are right Misty. I lived for 6 years in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and Accra, Ghana in the late '60s and early '70s, thereafter in a small town in northern Morocco.  Never did we experience water or electrical failure problems. Never did we have an AC or other machine burn.  Makes you wonder ....

Babs,oh to be in the UK!! my toilet is like the black hole and smells like the arse end of a camel, sitting pretty in the UK you have no idea what it's like. Come here on holiday and have no water for two weeks and then write a comment!! Until that day i wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy. Still no water!!! happy days. P.s don't wish to be negative.

Cant you flush the bog with a bucket full of swimming pool water or bottled water? Not ideal obviously but as a last resort...............better than having a camel's arse in ya bathroom?

I still can't understand why these new super pumps weren't fitted during the winter months?  Why wait until the start of the summer season to do it - still baffled

the water is back on and almost up to pressure (as of 9.30am) on the Kalamar rd, not the greatest of colour but this should improve hopefully during the day.
