Second Kalkan visit looming
« on: June 14, 2011, 08:16:17 AM »
We spent a few days in Kalkan last year, like many others we fell in love
with the whole place, so on Saturday 18th we are returning for 2 weeks,
we have read many reviews from many members for restaurants etc
and thank you one and all.Always open to more suggestions and having
to watch the lira slightly we have a couple of questions
1. Where is the best place to change sterling and
2 What are costs of bed and umbrella hire at Patara beach

Any members who would like to meet up 4 a drink we would
love to meet you and indulge of a bit of social chat

thanks

Neil and Angela

Hi N&A,

Its far better to change your ££££'s up in Kalkan, lots of places to choose from, at the moment the rate @ the PPT (best rate) is 2.525 TL to the £.

Sorry not sure about sunbed hire cost, but sure its not expensive.

Enjoy your trip and if you can, would be great to hear what you thought of Kalkan in a holiday report ?

Thanks KD, we will certainly post something at the end of our trip, and
if it is anything like our short trip last year we will soon be running out
of superlatives,(hopefully)

I found you are getting good rates with M&S, they do not charge  any ommission  and you can get any amount,

Todays rate was 2.511. I am sure the PTT charge commission, well they did when we  bought some,,

Does the PTT still charge commisssion as they certanly did when we last dhanged our sterling. We found we got a better deal with one of the small shops,

This year we have got nearly all our money from M&S, normally we take about £100 but their ates have been so good, in fact we got 2.55 last week. We was told that they have been promoting the Lira.

I know some of these online  banks have been giving a slightly higher rate but then they charge £6 handling charge so you are not that better off in the long run,

We was out there last June and the exchange rate was not as high as it is now.

We are out there again  in 13 days.

Hi Neil,

We are in "Kalamar Bay" and have had water the whole time during the water problems  :o..... it looks like it depends where your staying. Some people (in town) have had (near enough) no water for ages (not sure just how long) its no joke anymore  :'(
