Hi,

I thought this may be an interesting topic........ when did you first visit Kalkan?

For us it was July 2006

July 2005, having decided that Kalkan was as far as we would go west in search of property. That view coming in from Kas made the decision easy!

May 2005 - with Tapestry to the Meldi Hotel - it was love at first sight...

September 1997 staying at the Samira Hotel in the centre with Anatolian Sky.

Also Sept 1997 staying in the "bottom" Samira. Returned 7 years later and now own our own place there.

July 2004... a week at the Samira Hotel. A blissful honeymoon.

Went back for another two weeks at the Samira in September 2005, when we bought the first of our apartments from Baris at the Hotel Nur, then went back in November that year to complete!

Since then it''s been twice a year!

October 1998, on a last minute deal; it was either Turkey or Tunisia! We''ve not looked back since.

July 2006 - having visited Hisaronu on a last minute holiday and seen the property prices I did 3 weeks online research and we came to Kalkan and found our place in the sun.

September/October 2004. It was a "whirlwind" romance, as a tornado swept down the main street whilst we were there!!!
It was our first time in Turkey and we just fell in love with Kalkan. So much so that I bought an apartment!!!
We went home in shock. My hubby could not believe that I had acted so impetuously and was sure it would all end in tears.
The Tapu came through in January and it was one of the best decisions ever.

May ''07. We rented a fabulous villa in Kalamar Bay. Then later in the year we took another, then a further one in the spring of ''08. There are very few places in the world I''ve been back to

1992 - when Kalkan was a very small village with absolutely no commercial development.

Passed through in 1985, it was just a dolmus stop on the way to Kas.

1998 having read about Kalkan in a travel mag we stayed at the Samira Deluxe- back in the days when you got a free lift into town.
Looked at a property then but got cold feet. Then researched in winter and bought in May 2007. Now we try to get over at least four times a year.

1990. Drove along this coast. Stayed 2 days at the old Pirat Hotel. Got engaged here in Kalkan, bought ring from Grand Bazaar.

September 2000 to Hotel Samira in town. Coming back again in May for the 8th time to renew friendships made both at the hotel and restuarants/shops

Stayed in Patara in 1987 and visited Kalkan for the first time then.
We visited and stayed in Patara for several more years.
Succumbed and bought an apartment in Kalamar in 2003.
Moved over six months later, and not looked back.
