Kitting out your kitchen
« on: May 18, 2011, 08:18:37 PM »
Can anyone recommend anywhere locally which supplies plates, mugs, chopping boards etc for kitting out a kitchen?

I have managed to get all my furniture but now need to get the smaller items in situ when I fly out in June. I am only in Kalkan for three nights, so I would like to be able to know where to go which won't charge me an extortionate price.

I have also read that there is sometimes a problem with stock - being in the country for such a short amount of time I need to shop and go!

I also need towels and soft furnishings. I had a quote from Bravacossa and they wanted 2000TL for items which in the UK would have cost around £300.

Any suggestions will be most gratefully received.

Thanks

Sam

Take the road out of Kalkan across the traffic lights towards Akbel - round a couple of bends and on the right is a kitchen shop selling all you would need and next door is a shop selling towels, curtains etc
Good servive and good value
Or there are always the stalls on the Thursday market

There is a large place for crockery, glasses and houshold goods on the road up to Akbel. Coming from Kalkan you go straight across at the traffic lights, follow the road round the hairpin bend up towards Akbel and it is on the right, next to a new bakery. You will see allsorts of houshold goods outside.

There's also a new shop just up Kalamar Road on the left hand side selling kitchen goods.  The guy who owns it has a stall in the market on Thursdays.

That's brilliant. I shall do some shopping based on your recommendations.

I know  - it's tough, but someone has to do it!

Thanks for your help.
