October weather
« on: January 24, 2011, 07:50:48 PM »
Just been browsing the websites for a late second holiday in Kalkan. There are some good villa deals at the beginning of October, never been later than the end of August, start of September, just wondering what the weather is likely to be like then and are all the restaurants, shops, market etc still open? I realise the evenings will probably be a bit chilly but is it likely to be warm enough in the day to use the pool and maybe have a snorkel in the sea? Cheers folks 8)

We were out beginning of October last year and it was hot!!! Rain was forecast but did not materialise until later in the month.

We went last week in Oct and was lovely and hot. In pool or sea every day (had also warmer water by then) Needed a cardi at night but were able to eat outside every night.

The sea is warm and extremely clear in october, very good to snorkel. Pools are cooler towards the end of the month but still great to swim in. Some evenings are still hot but not like august. You can still sit outside with summer clothes till the wee small hours. Nothing starts to close until the last week of october.

Hi We were there at the start of October for 10 days. We had good weather but very breezy. Had a lovely day in Elmali , wine tasting and lunch. One thunderstorm and found the terrace restaurants a bit cold outside. Most places were open and most of the trips were on.
Will be back in late April this year and will go back in early October.

October is my favourite time to be in Kalkan - the sea is lovely and warm, the weather just perfect and there's a really nice chilled, relaxed atmosphere in the village. The last time we were there at that time of year - mid October 2009 - things did start to close before the end of the month. Palm Beach, for one. It was there one day and gone the next - and by gone I mean the decking was removed :o :o That said, its a really nice time to visit if you can.
Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt :)

Hi
We did the first three weeks in October last year. Lovely warm weather, and it was cool enough to sleep at night! The pool started lovely and warm, but became too cold by end of the holiday. The sea was beautiful and warm for the whole time though.

Thanks everyone for taking the time to reply, much appreciated. Sounds like the weather is pretty good in October. Just one more question, am I right in assuming that the clothes I take during the hottest months will still be suitable in October e.g. shorts, sleeveless tops, sandals and of course the essential Kalkan flip-flops, sun dresses maybe to wear out in the evenings? Though it would be advisable to maybe pack a thin cardi or shrug for the chillier evenings. Cheers again!!
