Is it a scam?
« on: August 05, 2010, 07:14:04 PM »
My friend owns a restaurant in Kalkan and has recently had emails from 2 different 'Doctors' asking to make reservation for lunch and dinner for their party of 10 medical delegates over a period of 6 days.  I thought it was a bit fishy, 2 doctors, 10 delegates but went along with it and once we said that we had tables free we gave him a fixed menu price which he readily agreed to.  Later he mailed back to say the he would send his credit card details & he would authorise us to take €1000 deposit and €5000 which we were to send back to his Event Manager (he said he was unable to give his credit card details to the Event Manager?).  Having recently read the Rental Scam report on KTL website alarm bells rang.  I called the 'doctors' mobile, his English was very poor and when I said I was calling from the UK, where was he, the line mysteriously went dead.  Is this a scam?  Has anyone else had a similar experience?

I assume you're not interested in my opinion!

However, Claret and Blue tells me it's definitely a scam
