Wine limit

Good evening!

We are returning to Kalkan next week for our third visit. As we are a large extended family we have hired a villa and plan to bbq most nights.

We have a couple of bottles of wine that we would like to bring from England. Does anyone what the limit is for bringing wine/alcohol into Turkey in our hold luggage? (rather than hand luggage)

We will, of course, also be sampling the local wine and Efes!

Hi Londonlady, this thread's been covered before if you type "wine limits" into the search facility you should find all the info.
From what I can remember, you've paid duty on the wine you've bought in the UK so there's no limit - just weight .
Some people bring the wine in the bags from wine boxes to reduce the weight...but check it out as suggested, I'm sure you'll find the info you need

I believe the wine limit is 1 Lt per person. The fact that Duty has been paid in the UK is irrelevant. And a litre of wine will weigh approx 1 kg. You could buy a bottle at the Duty Free on your way out of the UK but the choice of wine isn't that great.

The price you pay for wine in 'duty free' is exorbitant too.  A Jacob's Creek rosé which woud have been about a fiver in Tesco costs close to £10.

If the wine you are bringing is a special occasion wine and only that wine will do, don't forget about the restrictions on liquids in hand luggage will you because you don't want that posh bottle being confiscated at Security! Putting wine into hold luggage always worries me because of the possible breakage.
