Record holder for 1st time visitor to Kalkan?

I was introduced to Kalkan by a friend whom (if I remember correctly) first came here in the early 80's. That got me thinking................... who can claim to have been the 'earliest' Kalkan visitor on EJ and what was your experience?

For myself, it was February 2004, no record to be sure, but how many of you first came here in Winter and now live here full time?

can never remember the first year but think it was 94. Seen a lot of changes especially on the outskirts of town. Back then there was little development "up the hill" and Kalamar bay area also much less developed. Drive from Dalaman was considerably longer and definitely a more hair raising experience.
My first memory is sitting at the Merkez having a very early breakfast and thinking "wow" I think I'm going to love this place

our first visit was in 98 and we've only missed one year since!

Our first visit was to the Yelken in 2000 for our silver wedding anniversary, met some wonderful people and arranged to go again the next year.
Eventually the Yelken closed its doors and opened as apartments, and we all bought a piece; The Feds, Rosib, Yelkenite etc, it has become our second home.
Tarik Bak who used to run the Yelken when it was a hotel is still in town and still a wonderful friend to know.
My apartment is on the top floor and is called Deniz because that is the first thing I see when I wake up.

not a record holder but first came in '98 and my whole world seems to have followed me.  The fascination of Kalkan infected us all.  I can't think of one person I have introduced to Kalkan who has not fell under its spell.  What a place!

Also not a record holder - first visit to Kalkan in 1999 staying at the Yelkin. Although we had a two week holiday our first week was in Turunc the second being in Kalkan - never been back to Turunc but we are returning to Kalkan for our 6th visit in October.

Yes indeed ...this was our 23rd year.We used to stay in Patara (4 years in a row)but came in at night a few times a week...then decided we prefered the option of the other way round...i think alantj was about then too if i remember from an earlier thread on the same subject.....i hope to be Kalkaning for a long while yet and perhaps one day we will be there for good...(we have elderly relatives commitments)

I first visited in 1982, for a brief stop off on the way to Kas. At the time it was barely a resort and probably had less than 10 bars/restaurants.

Baxk then, even Fethye was little more than a village. Although it was growing quickly and the villa industry was just starting, with people were trying to sell us 2000sqm seafront plots for £1,500.
