Nearest Supermarket to the Asfyia Hotel
« on: June 09, 2009, 01:34:04 PM »
Hi

Please can anyone tell me how far the nearest supermarket is away from the Asfyia Hotel and whether it is reasonably priced.

Thanks
Leigh

Down towards the village and 5 minutes walk is the Gule supermarket and up towards Kalamar is the shop opposite Beyhans Apartments - again 5 minutes walk
Both stock bread and basics and maybe a few Korus more than in the village

Hi,
I find both of these expensive ok for a few bits but you would be better off walking the extra few metres to TESKO on the round about for a main shop or even better ADDA which has a huge choice and very well priced. Extra 5% for EK members.

Did you mean 5% discount for EK members or an extra 5% added to the bill

Sorry I have just re read my post and can see  that there could be some confusion. I did mean 5% discount for EK members. Very good value.

Hi Engineer - how many metres are "a few extra" -  Adda is the length of Kalamar Road and halfway up the hill past the TEDAS  :(

I''m just thinking that for a MAIN  shop it would be worth the trip as prices in the small supermarkets are very high, Angora 15 T Lira? (Tesko 9.5) Anyway the exersize would be a good thing.

I agree - both these mini-markets do a roaring trade because of their position.  Certainly Can-Can Market (opp Beyhan) is a spectacular improvement on the previous tenant!  It''s spotlessly clean with a wide range of fresh and stored goods and I don''t find the prices any higher than the village.  The main bonus is convenience.  The same with Gule further down.  I hear mention of a little Tesko opening just past Cafe Vita too.  This end of Kalkan is gradually beginning to open up a little.

We are in Kalamar Bay, and I always try to shop at the more local shops, bars. ( Cafe Vita, Can can ) The shops may be slightly more expensive ( albeit, Cafe Vita is cheaper than most other bars ), but in the long run adds only a few £££''s to the cost of a holiday, we need more shops, bars in Kalamar Bay, so I say, support your local shops and bars now, or they may disappear, and none of us want that, do we ? ? ?  ??? >:D ??? >:D

I''m new to Kalamar but have been pleased to meet the Can Can gang who are always really friendly and helpful. It''s good to see things are developing so well at this end of town! :)

Prices at Can Can are reasonable
They opened up when nobody else was interested and must be supported - surely Tesko must have enogh business in the village itself without trying to outdo the smaller establishments

Just seen on KTLN local news that the new Tescom as now opened in Kalamar although a smaller shop than the one in town it is going to sell a lot of the popular brands and the prices are going to be exactly the same as the one in town.

I will still give Can Can a lot of my business though they deserve it!!
