EARTHQUAKE INSURANCE

Afternoon all....

Myself and partner have our Kalkan Household Insurance cover with Yapi Kredi Bank, it is coming up for renewel in November of this year. We have just had a quote from Intasure in the UK and it appears competitive, and has additional / top up earthquake cover as an option, also it is written in English which is a bonus

Intasure have stated that the statutory earthquake insurance DASK which is compulsory only covers £15,000 in the event of an earthquake.

Whilst i hope that nobody has needed to use this DASK compulsory cover, can someone please confirm if the amount of £15,000 quoted as covered by DASK compulsory earthquake insurance by Intasure UK is indeed the case as it does appear ''skinny'' in the event of an earthquake.

My understanding is that the DASK is intended to give a minimum cover for everyone affected by an earthquake. As most homes are now much more luxurious, with better fittings and materials people require more than this should their building be affected. The money you pay to companies such as Intasure make up the rest to the value of a rebuild. If you don''t take out the DASK your insurance company will not pay you the amount you would have got from your DASK and so you would be £15,000 short.
