Kartin Supermarket
« on: May 18, 2013, 05:38:42 PM »
Just caught up with the final "What's New for 2013" on KTLN and I'm saddened to read that Kartin Supermarket has closed and in its place is a DIY store. Nothing against the DIY industry but I will miss Kartin. We always shopped there and the family who ran it were such lovely friendly people....such a shame :(
I don't know if this store is a casualty of the explosion of national chain supermarkets in Kalkan, or if the owners had just decided to sell up - either way I'm sorry it's no longer there.

Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt :)

Couldn't agree more K4E. Always shopped in Kartin as only a few minutes walk from us and the staff were great. Don't think We will be needing a DIY store ::)

I know, isn't it a shame. We always used kartin, good prices and really helpful and friendly staff.

We will never forget last year when our daughter stuck to the automatic doors (all sweaty and sun creamed up) and disappeared behind the fag counter! The look on the poor shop assistants face was priceless!!!  ;D

They were really the only supermarket when we first went to Kalkan. Sadly they didn't seem to keep up with the Jones'. Yali is constantly improving their premises and the national supermarkets obviously have the money to entice people in. Whenever I walked past Kartin even the lights seemed to be off.
