How to get to Kaputas Beach without a hire car
« on: April 21, 2013, 11:14:35 AM »
Hello my fellow Kalkan lovelies,

We are coming in late May/Early June and wanting to get to Kas/Kaputas beach, however we are not hiring a car. Is there a Dolmus that takes you near to the beach etc? I know it's on the D400 so would presume its easy enough to get to?

Thank you all  ;D

The dolmus to Kas stops at the top of the steps for Kaputas Beach, the Kas to Kalken does the reverse so no problem getting back. You just have to climb the steps!
I think, in the season, the Kas dolmus runs every half an hour but I am not certain. You can get the dolmus from the bus station and possibly at the stop on the town opposite the taxi rank.

There are several places you can get a Dolmus although your cheapest option will be to catch one from the bus/Dolmus station at the very top of the hill (next to the petrol station). There will be a man/men outside selling tickets. Ignore them as they are always a little more expensive. Just go to each parked Dolmus, look at the destination on the front windscreen, check the destination and price and timings for return Dolmuses then enjoy your trip. It's a much cheaper way to travel by Dolmus anywhere. You can also get to Saklikent and all the other places as well. Enjoy!

If you ever jump in a taxi, the driver will usually give you his card and offer trips to kaputas, kas, patara etc etc. if you feel comfortable with him, you can always negotiate a price with him, there is (or was last year) a very nice lady taxi driver too. We found this handy before we hired cars as you could ring from your accommodation and be taken door to door. Of course this is not as cheap as a dolmus and not as much character as being squashed up against tourists and locals going about their daily business, but is another option to consider.

You dont need to go up to the bus station to catch a bus/dolmus.If its nearer, you can walk to the end of the road going out of Kalkan (the one that Gempa is on).Theres a sheltered bus stop there and you just need to flag down any bus, going in the Kas direction.lt only takes about 5 mins so not a problem if crowded.
