Karaoke in Kalkan
« on: November 04, 2012, 08:56:45 PM »
Just seen on Facebook that Parc Kalkan are starting karaoke evenings

Football on TV' in bars and  in the street already and where one place has it we have seen that others will follow

Will Kalkan all too soon be like Hisonaru and all the other resorts, that people who come to Kalkan, do so to avoid- is this the end for Kalkan as we know it ?

Anyone got any opinions on this - is it good or bad for the place ?

One of the reasons we come to Kalkan is the relative peace and quiet. We noticed a difference this year with loud music from Chocolate Bar! If it does turn into another Marmaris or Hisaronu, we'll have to think again about visiting Kalkan. Sad times :-(

I read that too and don't think its good news, despite what Parc thinks.  When I'm telling people what Kalkan is like, I say if you're looking for karaoke bars, you won't like Kalkan!

Seems things are a changing.
Currently have a duplex apartment in Kiziltas which we visit as often as we can.

Maybe Parc thinks that is what their customers want and their customers need to tell them what they actually do want (or don't want).

NO TO KARAOKE !   As we are on the hillside, we don't hear the bars, the music or the karaoke but still think it is not good for Kalkan unless they limit it strictly to the winter months.  Until now it has existed only in some private homes, that's where it should stay.

Hi,
Anyone remember Karaoke 6-7 years ago in the Swan Pub, in the middle of July!

I'm probably going to have my passport confiscated at the airport for this but why not? A little of what you fancy does you good! I too remember the Swan.
I and my somewhat mature girlfriends commandeered sunset3 for an Abba fest on the high sea of Kalkan bay in September and we had a good giggle and had one or two songs at the moonlight in the evening.
I'm all for everything in moderation! So I'd say some might enjoy a bit of a sing song over the winter months.
A few renditions of "I will survive" or "Dancing queen" and you'll be surprised who'd join in! >:D L

There is nothing wrong with Karaoke per se, or big screen TVs, or loud dance music venues where the volume is pumped up well into the early hours, but Kalkan has grown up over the years into somewhere where the more "sedate" travellers have come to enjoy the evening dining experience rather than the boom boom boom they might experience should they wish that, maybe in Marmaris or Bodrum?
Please, (and feel free to call me selfish, or even a fogey) let us have at least one place which remains untouched by the march of time into bouncing night life.
Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are.

I am just glad we don't visit parc kalkan  and i suggest other people vote with their feet and not go there they will soon realise what customers want, please no karaoke in kalkan. lilly we heard and saw you having your Abba fest as we were on the Emir at the time and it looked and sounded like you were having a blast it was fun to watch.

I'm not a fan of karaoke and will go out of my way to avoid it. Sadly if Parc is putting this form of "entertainment" on they must only be responding to demand from their customers....can't imagine they wouldn't seek the opinion of their regulars on this for fear of losing their custom. Kalkan is changing but I hope it can still retain its charm and offer something for the more discerning traveller ;) We have to accept though that if the Parc Karaoke nights are successful, others will definitely follow - loud music is bad enough, but loud, badly executed music is the pits :P Let's remember the Nur Live Music nights didn't last long.....
Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt :)

Hehe Chrissy, well spotted. It's amazing what fun you can have with a hairbrush a song sheet and a couple, or so bottles of Lal!
Here's  a thought, hairbrush karaoke, it would be less noisy? ;D L
