Butchers and best new Supermarkets in 2012
« on: July 17, 2012, 09:22:23 PM »
We are due out in the next fortnight for our annual Kalkan tan and evenings out in our favourite restaurants. But like a lot of others we will also be using the bbq to prepare some of our meals and entertain friends. Now that most of the new supermarkets have been open for a few months was just wondering which are considered the best for variety of food and groceries and value for money. We have always liked Yali and also considered Seville good value for money. Would appreciate thoughts on how the new supermarkets compare and what are the new favourites. Likewise where is best for the bbq meat?

The Yali has really improved. They now have a new outside area under a verandah with a butchers counter and little cafe and their prices for some items have reduced, probably due to the competition. Bim have some very good prices but less choice. Only been in Migros once and it seemed to have a reasonable choice.

We found Kipa Express and BIM good value last month but limited in their ranges - both sell fresh meat and are very competitive. We've always used Bulent for fresh meat and/or Migros (Fethiye). The new Migros does have a meat counter but it was quite small and lacked variety.
We stayed quite loyal to Yali and Kartin (which has the best prices for Lal and Angora) as they were closest to us but shopped in both Kipa and BIM too. Sevil has been replaced by A-101.
Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt :)

Pre packed chicken fillets(2) in Bim for about £1.80..bread seems fresher than some places and try the tubes of crisps that are in blue tube with sade on...yum!(like discos) large 2.5litre of "Proper" coke for just over a £1  A101 similar.. although these are limited compared to Yali and migros we found they were very good value and carry enough for a 2 week holidays needs
Yali were selling the hand pumps for large water bottles  for 5 Tl..great idea and price ;)
(junes prices)
