I've never seen one...the roads and pavements aren't that great so perhaps that's why

A friend of ours took his own fold up scooter out there 3 years ago. There was 3 of us to help him but we used to get a taxi back at night, too dangerous to attempt those pavements. I am not sure Kalkan is  the right place though for a mobility scooter.

There is a Turkish man here who after a stroke, uses his own  mobility scooter and he seems to cope well with it.  The biggest problem for someone with limited mobility in the summer is that much of the village is closed to cars after 7 p.m. so even a taxi cannot take you to the door of the majority of restaurants.  This is then compounded by many of the rooftop restaurants having steep and narrow flights of stairs, making some restaurants completely inaccessible.

My 93 year old father-in-law comes to stay with us in winter and early summer and his mobility is fairly limited.  In summer, we overcome the problem of where to take him to eat in the evenings by using restaurants on Kalamar road - where there are no roof top terraces and we can park immediately outside - or those on the main road, from the market down to the first roundabout, where the same applies.

On the whole, even the largest cities in Turkey make very limited provision for those with disabilities and Kalkan has a long way to go before it could be considered an enjoyable destination for those with limited
mobility.

We knew someone  some years ago, who also took their own battery run mob. scooter to Kalkan but had several problems when there getting about. Also have to consider the transporting of it from UK to Turkey in transfer vehicles.

If you have someone with poor mobility the taxis are allowed into the town to drop off and pick up, even though the streets are closed. I believe it has to be a clear case though, no taking along a stick, hobbling a bit and hoping that will indicate a severe mobility problem. Akin restaurant have ordered taxis for my 92 year old dad who walks with 2 sticks and it came to the restaurant to get him. They say they have to argue your case with the taxi company. I have also seen a youngish man with a broken leg and 2 crutches being dropped by a taxi at Doy Doy in the middle of summer.
