breakfast
« on: October 09, 2011, 05:30:28 PM »
Another question as we are definitely planning a different routine for this holiday.....we thought we would treat ourselves to breakfast out a few days....particularly if we can do breakfast with a view. We are looking for Turkish breakfast, not fry up....any ideas?? Thanks

Not sure if you plan to visit any beach clubs but can thoroughly recommend Palm Beach Club for a delicious Turkish breakfast.  You can sit in their restaurant area or in the Ottoman seating area - both have gorgeous views.  We usually go for a swim when we get there then settle down on the Ottoman seats for a leisurely breakfast.

Fener Cafe also has an extensive breakfast menu and a fabulous waterside location.  We took books with us and sat there for a good few hours each time :)  It's under cover too so good if there's a bit of rain.

thanks, definitely going to try Fener Cafe....we've only ever had drinks there, and as you say its under cover and I think we may need that the first couple of days! Palm Beach is our favourite beach club, never thought of going there for breakfast but will definitely try that too....what a lovely view for breakfast!

Another vote for the Turkish breakfast at Fener. Plate absolutely loaded with cheese, olives, cucumber, tomato. Eggs however you like them cooked, honey, jam and enough bread to feed a family of four :) also includes tea or coffee.
Stunning location too :)

In my opinion, THE best Turkish breakfast, WITHOUT exception is at Ada Patisserie on Kalamar Road.  I last had one in July and had:-
Cherries, kiwi, banana, strawberries and walnuts
Feta, chesse spread and a chedder type cheese.
Olives, cucumber, tomatoes, rocket
Cherry jam, marmalade, honey and a watermelon skin (??) jam
White bread, brown bread and toast
and.....a fried egg

and it was about 10 lira.  Absolute bargain and would set anyone up for the day!

p.s It's under cover too. :-)

Not that far from the beginning on the right.  If you know where Kalkan Domain is, its sort of opposite.

We've had great birthday cakes from there too.

I've only ever had breakfast at Fener, so I cannot comment on anywhere else. I had Tukish and others in our party had cooked breakfasts. There were seven of us in total and my delicious Turkish breakfast would have fed everyone. Highly recommended  ;D

Another vote for Fener and Palm Beach. We always get to Palm Beach really early so we get first pick of the sunbeds ::) - so breakfast is a must once we've agreed on a spec....me and BH always have a different idea where the best place is :P so it can take a while...
Fener do fab breakfasts. For a nice change we've had breakfast at Nur Patisserie (opposite Nur Hotel, but not part of their company) and Bread and More on Kalamar Road. Turkeyfan, Ada's breakfasts sounds fab - when we're back in June we are pretty close to there so I'll be giving it a try.
Favourite breakfast in Kalkan - wherever we're staying ;D. Fresh bread, still warm and BH's menemen - or if we feel like it a fry up with the bacon and sausage we packed in our case :o :o Tastes so much better when you have the amazing view and I somehow convince myself its calorie-free because of the hills ;)
Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt :)

Fener is a must for us now, we made so much use of this harbour cafe this time, the prices are great and the service friendly. Breakfast at the apartment was simple ( I never cook on holiday) and we would just have some of the delicious turkish bread and jam from the supermarket, also Sarelle chocolate spreads are heavenly.

I'm with Turkeyfan and vote Ada for the best Turkish breakfast!
They do the full works as described above or you can go for a simpler version which is cheaper, but either one is terrific. Even if it's raining you can still sit outside in the covered terrace area and watch the world go by on the Kalamar road, but they also have seating indoors.

Hey, BL....it sure is.
Bacon, sausage, mushrooms, tomatoes, eggs and beans...oh and, if I've remembered to pack it, Bury Black pudding too ;D
Eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms and beans sourced locally :) along with the bread and jam to finish :o

See why I need to walk the hills as often as I can...?

You're welcome to join us next year...in fact I'm going to start a breakfast cafe at our accomodation (complete with big outside tv, of course).
Everyone with tattoos and footie shirts, form an orderly queue ;) ;) :-*
