Caretta Boutique Hotel
« on: July 10, 2011, 02:56:48 PM »
Good afternoon everyone

I last visited Kalkan 10 years ago and stayed at the Kulube.  I am keen to come and visit again as I loved it last time, and want to know if anyone has stayed at the Caretta as we have been offered 2 weeks at beginning of August.  We have been in contact with the Lizo, Pasha, White House and the meldi but they all have limited rooms available if any at all.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated, and also this will be the first time we will be DIY instead of package, so we are a little scared at the prospect of booking flights, transfers, hotel etc. and getting it all right!

Thanks in advance

Cat

Caretta was the first hotel in Kalkan we ever stayed in and we came back time and time again until we moved here 6 years ago.
It used to be a Tapestry Hotel years ago but times have changed and its now an independant hotel run by the same family. As I havent stayed for some years I cant say how things are run now although I have heard positive comments from tourists staying there.I can say though that the location is simply perfect. Its quiet and at the waters edge but just 10 minutes walk to the harbour and the heart of Kalkan.
It was that location that made me fall in love with Kalkan!

Thank you for your quick response Amber

I loved Kalkan when i went 10 years ago, and have travelled both with Tapestry and Exclusive escapes on numerous occasions.  I am going to book the 2 weeks and give it a go!

Thank you and am jealous that you now live there.

Kind regards

Cat

Hi Count,
Carretta seems fine, we stayed at the Yali Beach next door. A flat walk into town of about 10 mins to harbour. But even at the start of August it will seem like more!
Have you booked already?
Kalkan..........just ONE of the places we'll have a villa when we win the Euromillions!
Not a full time resident, but getting there!!

Carretta has been very tastfully re-furbished over the last 18-24months.  The rooms are all very smart & modern, not too large & most if I remember rightly, have a small balcony.
The new name suits the hotel, Carretta Boutique.
The family have worked really hard to get it up to this standard, unfortunately the storms caused a lot of damage earlier this year to the beach club but that has now all  been repaired & the views & location are still superb.

thanks to you both for your input, I haven't booked yet, as still trying to sort out when to fly.  The difference between flying out on the 1st Augsut and the 4th is £300!!!

I am a little concerned about paying my deposit over email as the owner wants me to do.  I have got a top terrace room available, and transfers through the hotel at £120.

I am maybe leaving it a little bit late I know, so will be booking it this weekend.

Regards

Cat
