Dentist in Kalkan
« on: June 03, 2011, 05:47:21 PM »
I wanted to write this as I got a lot of advice from EK members last year and didn't do it after my return, so if anyone else is like me I hope it helps.

I had not (except in emergency for extractions as left so long) visited a dentist in about 30years as I had a real phobia from an incident as a child. My crown needed replacing and about 2 weeks before hitting kalkan the back of a top tooth had crumbled away.

On recommendations from here I got the courage to visit Cenk on the Kalamar road and while I cant say I am now happy to visit uk dentists I can honestly say he is marvelous. Already planning a visit when I return in September. Over 3 visits had a crown replaced, upper tooth repaired and 30years worth of cleaning all for about £120. Throw in the view, turkish music playing softly and the cutest grey and black dog downstairs who waited for me a bonus.

Thanks everyone
Michelle

I wish I had't such an issue, but I had to find someone to have a root canal treatment (which is about EUR 900 in Salzburg !!!) some of the locals recommended Dr. Ozbek ( assume - Atila Ozbek) and he was really pro and knew what he's doing and made me really feel comfortable and maybe much more crucial did not charge even EUR 200  ;) he was able to speak basic German - not sure about his English skills, but he spent a year in London, I guess.

on the way to Kalamar and opposite side of the local healt clinic, upper floor of the Market, Gule.

Since my last post I visited Cenk again in September ended up having to have a root canal (very new experience for me) which took 2 visits of 90 mins including x rays, on top of that had a clean and polish and all came to 260 TL. Hopefully I can go through year before I return in Sept 2012.  ;D

I went to Cenk for root canal in May, (as UK NHS dentist had only drilled half way to nerve and not cleared it out properly) and he fitted a double crown. For some reason a bit broke off of the crown so I had to go back again in June, and he smoothed it off.
In August the crown broke up even more so when I went out in Sept, I went back to Cenk and he replaced the crown for free. He told me that he would always do this for work up to 5 years after he had done it. Try getting that sort of warranty from a UK dentist.

Hello all - just wondered if anyone has any contact details for the dentist(s) mentioned - I have just been quoted £300 for crown work that will need doing in June - I will be in Kalkan for the first two weeks of the month and whilst I am loath to go to the dentist whilst on holiday the reports on here sound very favourable and a lot cheaper than the quote I received today - which is not even guaraneed!  Thank you

Thank you so much BL - much appreciated - I will contact them and hopefully make an appointment before I arrive in Kalkan - never thought I would visit a dentist on holiday, but it makes sense economically!

Thank you ianb,  I did wonder about telephoning - it can be difficult conversing over the phone, and my Turkish is limited to say the least! - thanks again
