Water Off Again!
« on: May 18, 2011, 04:55:02 PM »
I have just heard from our agents that the water has been cut off again in Kalkan?   Does anyone know why and how long before it comes back on?  I do hope that we don't have continuing water shortages as this should really be given priority by the Belidiye.

I've now heard that it's because only 2 of the pumps at Saklikent are working and this is causing the low pressure - some areas of Kalkan are worse than others and we have barely a trickle from the tap.  There seems to be an ongoing problem every year with the Saklikent pumps and it really should be a priority to update the system properly.  I would much rather have a reliable water supply than new bus stops and other non essential  things that the Council seem to spend money on.  Just my opinion anyway.

Hear, hear!
There's a water update on KTLN.

Pressure really low yesterday (Wednesday) at 6.00 pm in old town area. Water off completely by 11.00 pm when we came back from dinner. Back on by 7.00 am today (Thursday), but pressure still very low.

I suspect there are more outages to come before the problem is fixed. Hope the fact that it's a public & bank holiday today (ie Belediye not working) for Gençlik ve Spor Bayramı doesn't mean a delay!

Water off in Kiziltas............
This should be the main priority I agree with Kalkanbelle The Belediye should get this sorted I personally can do without bus shelters/stops but water no way.........................If this isn't sorted then it will have a knock-on effect with the tourism.....

Update as at 4.15 pm Kalkan time, Thursday: water on and off (and pressure very low indeed if it is on) all day so far here in the old town. The guys at Merkez Cafe said they had been told by the Belediye that this outage could last 2 or 3 days, as a part is having to be obtained from Antalya (it's presumably coming by tortoise!) for one of the pumps at Saklikent.

I guess the water is still off or on low pressure as no one has reported otherwise?   Strange that KTLN reported last September that 3 new super efficient pumps had been bought by the Council to replace the old worn out ones and that they would be fitted before the tourist season this year.  The new pumps would make the water supply more reliable and increase the pressure.  Did they ever get fitted and if so why aren't these brand new pumps working properly??
