drizzle....really?
« on: August 02, 2010, 03:21:57 PM »
hello
sitting "working" and thinking "in 3 weeks time I'll be in Kalkan" so just thought I'd have a sneaky look at BBC weather thinking it would show wall to wall sunshine......but no! apparently drizzle on Friday!!
does the? we've been to Kalkan 5 times in August and the only time it rained was a freak storm mid August last year...trust if you were there you would remember it!
have it really been as showery as the forecast has said so far this summer.....please tell me it hasn't, I need to look forward to guaranteed sunshine! 8)

Just talks about "sizzling sunshine" on the KTLN Kalkan site - weather forecast! Not a mention of drizzle! 8)

Actually there were a lot of clouds today, but very very hot, and set to get hotter. Any cloud is blessed relief. The every hot weather is difficult to cope with

We were in Kalkan in August about 3 years ago and it rained one morning - not a storm (freak or otherwise). Low cloud came off the mountains and refused to rise, brought some rain with it which was actually a blessed relief. It remained warm though and by late afternoon it was scorching hot and sunny again...played havoc with my hair, I recall >:(
Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt :)

Yes, how foolish of me to leave my rubber bathing cap when I packed practically everything else I own ;D ;D ;D
They are making a comeback..I might bring a daisy one next year. I'm not sure which would be the better look for me - the fizzy mess my hair becomes in Kalkan (and Jul/Aug for us next year which means hair hell..!) or rubber bathing cap face in 110 degrees?
Suggestions on a postcard to...
By the way, Alice did a runner because she couldn't stand living next door to Smokie..and she knew her mate Sally had designs on the lead singer anyway...what's a girl to do?

We had a shower of rain in August 2008.  It was very weird - we were all lying out in the sun when suddenly it started to pour - obviously bring English (mad dogs and etc....) we tried to sit it out but eventually had to admit that the weather won and retreated in doors

The high temperatures are continuing to disrupt daily life for many throughout the country. Antalya, which was expected to see the temperature increase to 38 degrees Celsius, saw temperatures rise as high as 42 degrees Celsius. State Meteorology Bureau officials have warned that the humidity levels may be as high as 80 percent in the city.

After a very humid, overcast day, without a glimpse of the sun, we now have a fine drizzle. Thunderstorms are expected for later this evening.

Well done BBC

...its all hit and miss!!
Both Accue and BBC predicted gorgeous weather for May/June this year and we had the worst weather we've ever had in Kalkan ::)

What I want to know is, how come its always sunny in London and the South East? And why there isnt a hosepipe ban anywhere in the UK other than the Northwest of England where it has rained for the entire month of July and a good part of June too??

Babs, one thing for sure is that you will get more sunshine in Kalkan than in the UK ;D ;D  (London aside.. :P )
