Welcome Vieux con, nice to have a continental touch to the forum. I spent some months living and travelling around Germany and Switzerland. The air definitely smells sweeter in Switzerland!!! I mainly visited the German cantons, but did get to have a wonderful meal and overnight stay in Geneva. The views and scenery were stunning, don''''t blame you for staying there.

My OH''s family live in a town called Thonon-Les-Bains on Lake Geneva which is beautiful but on the French side of Lake Geneva.  It sure is a different environment than some of the UK towns and villages!  Picture postcard beautiful with magical christmases and boy do they have good food and wine!  Lovely place to live though expensive!

Hi Kim,
Thonon is indeed blessed with a lovely setting, and plenty of good eateries. It tends to be overshadowed by it''s better known neighbour Evian, but all the better for us locals. It used to have an ''authentic'' Indian restaurant, sadly that closed about 8 years ago. When will the French learn to appreciate proper food? Ha!

I now live in wonderful Edinburgh (just voted top small city in the world for quality of life  )  I arrived here via (most recent first...): St Andrews, Denver, Colorado Springs,  Poulton-Le-Fylde, Truro, Plymouth, Worthing, Barnes, and Bermondsey.  Phew.  Love Edinburgh best of all.

We are from Wigan in Lancashire. Home of the pie eaters!!!!!!!!!! Can''t wait until 23 days time when we will be back in Kalkan for our first visit of 2008 - the thought of sitting on our terrace, looking at the view of the bay & village sipping an Angora red, debating which restaurant to visit & anticipating a lovely meal is bliss.

We''re from a very hilly village in Mid Glam, South Wales, so HOPEFULLY the Kalkan hills won''t be TOO daunting for us and we can always get some training in trudging up the hills around here before we go. Mind you we don''t have the hills and the heat to cope with here just the wind and rain normally! Roll on June! Warm sunshine, cool drinks and fantastic views, can''t wait!!
