Suggestion for 1st time visitors

Over the years it has been observed that when thefts have occurred, it is often within the first 3 days that visitors (also residents) arrive in Kalkan.  I have recently been told by 3 families that when they go in town or make a restaurant booking, they are being asked exactly which villa they are renting, where is it located and what do they plan to do while here.

Is it normal in any country to be asked where you are staying, the name of the villa and your plans when you make a restaurant booking?

While these can be innocent and just friendly questions, nevertheless, you are well advised NOT to say where you are staying if you are renting a private villa, and especially not to say that 'tomorrow we are going to xxxxx'.

These are simple precautions that might avoid bigger problems.
