Break in Kiziltas
« on: June 10, 2010, 06:42:02 PM »
Badem Sokak was the target this afternoon while occupants were on sun terrace / in pool at back, they went in the front. Jandarma called, no further details yet.

Hi we have been burgled in Kiziltas a couple of years ago but while we were out this may i caught a young boy about 11 years old just about to go in my back door of apartment, after sending him on his way he proceeded to go and look round all other places in our area,so please be aware its not just adults to watch out for.

Hi Everyone.
Strange you should say that PAT, but the other day a young boy had walked into our place and was on his way out with one or two bits and pieces of value, after I explained to him it was unacceptable to us in our country to just help yourself to other peoples property, I made him a nice banana milkshake before sending him on his way.
Luckily there was an adult waiting for him just along the road so he had someone familiar to take him home.

I'm told that there was a man and woman seen in the area together around this time and that a safe was taken.

Hel66. You do know that they don't get their striped jumper, mask and swag bag until they are 21, don't you?

It was a stern warning that if he did not stop his (possibly) criminal ways, he would have to endure a large glass of flavoured milk and maybe the same again at his next victim's villa if he got caught. Even hardened criminals would mend their ways after a couple of those.

Or did you mean the banana? That was a subtle pointer to his 'bent' lifestyle, simple psychology really.

Can I ask where exactly is Badem Sokak in Kiziltas or does anyone know of a map showing the location?

Sorry but I can't see any humour in being burgled as we had a break in last year and it was a very distressing experience.  I certainly wouldn't be giving the culprit a milkshake more like a good shake!

Charlie

It's the road that runs above you (where the semi-detached yellow villas are)

The Jandarma are patrolling on foot through this entire area every night now.

Kalkanbelle - humour was certainly not the intention - it was utter exasperation.

I'm sorry but why wasn't the jandarama called and the boy arrested, he could be part of a group of criminals breaking into peoples homes and stealing.......surely that was the obvious thing to do.......I'm really puzzled, would you give a boy a banana milk shake if you caught him red handed in England......no don't think so........

Unfortunately my villa in Kiziltas was broken into just 2 weeks ago. This is disturbing since we are new owners in Kalkan. It happened during the evening whilst we were asleep. They took camera, wallet and small items, even baby clothing.
We have since had iron bars fitted over the 1 window which was a non sliding window (we put a wooden bar in the track of the sliding doors in the evening which means they cannot slide open). Apparently they tried to get into our neighbours also but unsuccessfully. They had bars already installed.

It is unfortunate that this seems to be a reoccurring theme, and that the authorities do not seem to have the capability to do anything about it. We reported it and they took a statement but nothing further. It is encouraging to hear they are patrolling the area at night.

Given the size of the window they came in through and some of the items taken, i would also think that it was a child who broke in.

If any other owners are able to offer advice on deterants, alarm systems, then it would be appreciated.

Maplins sell small door and window alarms from £7 - 9.99.
Very easy to fit and very effective.
