Digiturk Current Format
« on: April 06, 2010, 09:50:18 PM »
Can someone update me on UK channels on Digiturk. I have the basic package but the channels seem to change every time I return. (Particularly from Oct - Apr)
I lost Premiership Football a few years back when a French channel was withdrawn and a premium channel set up for 40 -50 YTL a month which I couldn't justify for our visits which add up to 5-6 weeks a year.

Hi VillaKova,

Welcome to EnjoyKalkan, sorry I cant help you on the digiturk question but we have gone for a SlingBox connected to our sky system at home and an 8meg broadband package.... lets us watch all our Sky channels whilst in Turkey - may be worth considering, the picture quality is more than acceptable :)

Hi Jon

The Slingbox appears to be a great idea.  I considered using a “hidemyIP” type option  so you can access Skyplayer, BBCiPlayer etc from outside the UK but these usually incur ongoing costs.

You have a 8mb broadband package in Turkey, but do they limit the amount of data you can dowmload – I assume watching TV for only a relatively short time compared to the UK can still be very heavy Internet useage?

Also can you put your Skybox on standby from Turkey?

Im on an unlimited tarriff with TTNET, sorry I cant remember the name of the package, I think its about 50YTL per month but I can move packages up/down every couple of months so I  upgrade to 8meg unlimited when in Turkey and downgrade when not.

Yes you can put your Sky box in Standby via the slingbox and also record ;) Also, if you have guests staying over if you have a SlingBox Pro that comes with freeview built in so they can enjoy freeview whilst in Turkey without changing what your watching on Sky in the UK!

Personally I found the "slingcatcher" to be a better solution to hooking the computer to the TV as it provides a normal remote.

That is interesting Jon.  I have had problems with losing channels and some inappropriate channels appearing with our current solution.  I will check out Slingbox.  I do not have Sky in the UK, but this could convince me down that route.  I like the idea of being able to turn up/down bandwidth too.  Do you do this online or do you have to call TTNET to get this done?
