Can anyone confirm that the work on the new road will stop once the season starts.
Govt. projects to my knowledge and I could be wrong, continue all year round?
If so, shouldn't we be warning people about avoiding this area?

HA  thats funny. Please tell it to the Villa owners so they can tell clients b4 they book
If hard work was such a wonderful thing, surely the rich would have kept it for themselves?

Just got the whiff of tarmac in the air in the old town, so they must have started on the lower carriageway.  The recent tamping of the stones seems to have been done more thoroughly than the upper carriageway, so let's hope the surface is better too.

Until I read your post, I thought the appalling smell was some over-enthusiastic anti-mozzie spraying! For those not in Kalkan, the tarmac smell yesterday was awful: it made us feel quite nauseous and lasted from mid-afternoon until early this morning, affecting the whole of the old town. Hope that's it now!

I love the smell of tarmac in the UK...is it not the same in Turkey ???
Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt :)

This morning's road-related noise is the next layer of loose stones ricocheting off the underside of the cars already barrelling along it.  Both carriageways seem to be open and the appropriate signs are in place, but I saw several cars and scooters still going the wrong way along the upper lane.  Sunday for me will be spent sitting on the front wall watching for crashes.  Alternatively, I may go and watch the Grand Prix on TV with the same aim!
