Meis Island boat service

Hi folks.

Please can someone advise me if we can drive to Kas and simply hop on a ferry across to Meise? Or, do we need to book an organised excursion?

If there is a regular ferry service, how of ten do then depart/return?

You can just go to Meis on your own and without pre-booking but you must take your passport with you, which will be taken away by Turkish customs and returned to you when you come back from Meis.  There is one ferry daily departing around 10 a.m and depending on customer demand, sometimes other, smaller boats also make the journey at the same time.  To complete customs formalities you should be in Kas no later than 09.15.

The Ferry comes back between 2 p.m. and 3.30, again depending on customer demand.  You can negotiate with the Captain about return times but if the majority of passengers (who are going for visa renewal) want to return early, you will have to stick with early return time.

Hi,

Have you any idea of how much it cost for the ferry?  Presumably it works out cheaper than the organised tours-there are 9 of us going in August so some of these excursion costs are starting to rack up!!! Thanks
