Worth bringing fishing tackle to Kalkan?
« on: October 03, 2009, 03:52:02 PM »
Only about 36 hours until we get picked up to go to the airport!!!   ;D 8)

I have a question- Pete, my husband often takes a folding type fishing rod and reel etc when we go abroad. He likes to spend an hour or two, fishing from the rocks or a jetty.
Does anyone know if that would be possible in the area near to the Kulube, where we're staying?
If it is possible, any clues on what sort of bait to use?
He puts the fish back again (if he has any luck catching them in the first place!)  ::)
Thanks for any advice, getting really excited now. Just packed and weighed my case and it's all fine. Whoo Hoo!

Sorry I cannot help you, find fishing as boring as watching paint dry. I have always thought that your sanity has to be questioned if you take pride in out witting a fish!
Anyway what I wanted to say was that I was on a mission to take over all the recent posts column at the bottom of the page. But you have ruined it, thanks.

Not my idea of a good time either, but was asking on Pete's behalf.
He says he doesn't outwit the fish, he asks for a dignified surrender in return for small portions of food (bait) with the promise of a speedy return to the water.
However, this seldom works   :D

Meanwhile, I thought this forum was for just this, asking questions from other (usually helpful) posters.
Who's rattled your cage?  ???

Hi
You can fish off the rocks near KlubeE but in the summer you are more likely to catch someone swimming than a fish
If you want to try the usual bait is a bread paste or raw chicken [pieces-not a whole one ;D]
But it passes the time and who knows??

Thanks so much Kevincat99, that was helpful.
He's decided to take the gear after reading your reply.
I'm happy to lie on a sunbed, but he likes to get up and do something after a while.
Cheers.

It's well worth fishing with just a small hook, 16, with a little bit of bread or bread flake - sometimes they do sometimes they don't - most the latter though! If they do don't expect a great BBQ!
