alcoholic drinks in Kalkan
« on: July 27, 2009, 08:24:07 PM »
Hello everybody

First of all, i'm sorry for the question, which can be seem stupid, but I'm going to Kalkan at 1st time. You should understand...

I will appreciate any info about the cost of alcoholic drinks in Kalkan's supermarkets. As a mojito lover, I have a special interest to white rum. Havana Club, Ron Varadero, any.

Are other ingredients for mojito, such as tonic water, lime and mint available in Kalkan's supermarkets?

Thank you in advance

I would suggest that you buy white Rum at the airport at duty-free prices as imported spirits are expensive in Turkey and tuck a couple of Limes in your case.
There is quite a funny thread on the forum about how elusive limes are. >:D

small green lemons.  The owner of the shop is intrigued by the enthusiasm shown by tourists for this very commonplace local product.

There were some limes in Carrefour in Fethiye last week, priced at 4.50 lira each.

As fairly mentioned above, both lemons and limes are used in foodmaking, especially in beverages. However, despite their apparent similarity, they serve in different ways. Lemon has an acidic taste, lime is sweet. Moreover, lime accents the flavor of beverages, that's why it's more valued in cocktails.

As for water, I used to add tonic, not just sparkling water, because I think, tonic makes it more flavoured.

So, tastes differ. It's not dogma, of course...
