Flights for 2010??
« on: June 19, 2009, 08:10:32 PM »
Does anyone have any idea of when they become available to book?  I was looking at another site     (holiday truth) & someone said they''d already booked for summer 2010.  However I can''t find any published flights as yet.

Having got onto Squeezy Jet as soon as their timetable was available for this summer & having got a great deal I''d like to do the same for next year. But EJ don''t give timetables until 6 months or so before travel date & I wondered if T.Cook or Thompsons do so any earlier?

Aegean''s flights have already gone up from what they were quoting a couple of weeks ago  :(

Thomas Cook, Thomsons and First Choice are supposed to be later this month.  Jet2 have told me to phone back in a month and they may have more of an idea when they are releasing theirs and apparently Easyjet is December.  I''m booking 34 seats for next May and dont know whether to book one of on the main ones or take a chance and wait for Easyjet - we got a great bargain with them for September this year.  Decisions, Decisions!! :o
Currently have a duplex apartment in Kiziltas which we visit as often as we can.

Thanks for that, Turkeyfan.

Don''t like the Easy Jet times - late flight out & back - prefer an early morning departure but if you register with EJ they  will email you with when the timetable comes out for 2010 & if you are on the keyboard at that time you can get a great deal!

When booking for next year, note that Onur, My Travel and Thomas Cook all came in the top ten of worst airlines for delays  :( We''ve used Onur for a few years and never had a problem, but they were 4th on the list :(

We are using Onur for the second time in July, first experience was 2hr delay going out 10hr delay coming back. I was hoping that this was just a one off, but sounds like possibly wasn''t  :(

Alan we fly with them on Friday..never had a problem, so was quite shocked to see how unreliable they were on this newly published table. The big names got the headlines, but Onur were the 4th worst behind, Air India, Eurocypria and Quantas

Your experience sounds dreadful  >:(

I really think its the luck of the draw re flight delays. We have flown with both Thomas Cook and Onur, a few minor delays with Onur Air but big delays everytime with Thomas Cook. We flew this year in May with KTHY Airlines and were very impressed with them. Quick and eficient, maybe because they are a smaller airline. I would certainly use them again.

Only had problems with Onur twice in twelve years.
Flew with KTHY in May and found the journey a bit of a squash (and I only have short legs!!) but travel times were fine.

I flew last month with KTHY to Northern Cyprus via Dalaman and they brought our outbound flight forward by nearly 8 hours to 0345 instead of 1230 and pushed the homebound flight back from 0700 to 2230!!  This meant travelling overnight in both directions when I''d been expecting to be fast asleep in my own bed - and was only notified the day before departure!  As already said, it''s often just the luck of the draw.

Thanks for that Sally. Booked for next April/May. I'm just off to my daughter's wedding. I'm glad I had one last look at the forum before I left.

Thanks for the info Sally, I've been looking out for their 2010 flights. Just booked last 2 weeks May £138 pp, no luggage. As you said not quite as cheap as last year, but pretty good. We flew Easyjet for the first time in June and were quite impressed, we normally fly with Onur Air.

I'm getting very confused regaring which carrier to book with. At the moment it's not a particular problem as most have not yet published their timetables and prices for September '10, but I am getting mixed reports about nearly all of them.

We flew Thomas Cook this summer and although the flights left on time at both ends of the holiday the travel experience as not very pleasant (way too cramped even for short people, had to pay extra for a sensible baggage allowance etc. etc.)  Last year I was unfortunate enough to be in Akyaka when XL went under and my tour operator flew us back via Cyprus Turkish Airlines from Izmir.  I was actually very impressed at the time, but since grazing on this site am having second thoughts about them because of the stories of delays and lost luggage. I had assumed that as theirs are scheduled flights and not charters they would be less prone to delays and cancellations but it seems I may be wrong on that.

So the short list is EasyJet or KTHY.  I will be travelling from London but am not fussy regarding which airport so if anyone knows where best to harness bargain fares with exceptional service and a huge baggage allowance please let me know!
