The Kalamaki run by Tayfur & his partner, is great, the food we had was super.
 Good luck to them all.

I can totally agree with the comments about Zula''s. We were there for our first visit recently and while we really liked all the restaurants we went to - the best overall experience - food and service - was there.

We agree about Cafe Zula. We went for the third time last night. Not something we would usually have in Kalkan, but we decided to try the roast beef dinner with apple pie to follow.
It was excellent and the roast beef was the most tender we have ever eaten and the home made apple pie and ice cream was delicious.
Only served on a Sunday, it was great value at 23TL and the service was spot on.

Hi all, please could someone explain exactly where Zula is as I don''t remember it from last year?  We haven''t been to Kalkan for a year - I gather there are several new restaurants?

One of my favourites is Tomato, next to the Post Office.  It''s good simple Turkish food and the prices are very reasonable compared to the other restaurants down at the harbour.  I love the cheese borek! And Ali, the manager is really nice and very helpful if you need information about anything. They also do take aways/deliveries.  Pick up a menu from the restaurant. :)

Baharat is the new best restaurant in Kalkan, excellent food, pepper steak to die for, great prices and great service from Metin and Hasan - just opposite the Mercez cafe in Kalkan.  Definitely worth a visit.  And they have a jazz night on Thursdays which I believe is excellent - will try that on my Sept visit.

We went to Zula last nıght on the strengh of the good reports on thıs forum. Unfortunately, although the restaurant ıtself and staff were very nıce we dıdn''t thınk much of the food; the meat dıshes were too over elaborate and processed tastıng (but the home made bread, sea bass and meze starters were very good).

We have 2 favourite restaurants 1. Adams Place on the Kas Rd. He collects and returns us free if we phone 8443232 great Turkish food in unbelievable setting and 2. Luka''s at the junction of the Kas Road and the road into Kalkan. Again wonderful food in beautiful setting. Both extremely good prices unlike some in Kalkan now.

We went to Zula last night on the strength of recommendations on this forum (and the lady in the clothes shop) and had what was undoubtedly the best meat meal of the 12 we''ve had so far.

The staff were attentive, the owner interesting to talk to and the price was on a par with other similar restaurants. It is far more airy than some other terrace restaurants and certainly less cramped than one frequently praised establishment.

I agree with the posts about the bread - it was delicious but I disagree with the post about the food tasting processed or being over engineered. Presentation is important and in our case it was spot on.
If I had one complaint it would be that the portions were too bigfor my already expanded waistline!!!
