What is the best restaurant in Kalkan?
« on: May 27, 2009, 02:08:04 PM »
In our opinion the best value restuarant is the Kebap House next to what was Korsan Meze.  Our favourite up market place was a toss up between Ibo and The Ivy.  I have seen the website for the new Nar restauarnt and that looks worth a visit.

I agree with les-ross,the bosphorus at the Samira is very good, but maybe Im biased because I like the Samira any way,but good food, not bad prices, good service and great staff,Gooney is one of the best head barmen I have ever seen,he never stops and is great fun.
If you fancy a bit of a snack try the chips, real home made BIG ones and plenty of them, sit at the bar with them and say SHARE SHARE you will have plenty of new friends in seconds  ;D
EFES TIME AGAIN !

Without doubt "Adams Place". Superb food cooked by his wife and run with the family. Wonderful views and if you ring he will arrange transport to and from your hotel or villa

Babs, I understand that Korsan Meze has chenged its name.  I maybe worng.  We loved it last year and it is one of our favourites although we did not eat the Meze.  Less than 4 weeks and we will be back!!!  Can''t wait.  Food, food and more food  I am not a great eater usually on holiday but even I cannot resist the superb food served up at most restauarnts.

Is the menu at Adams varied?  What sort of cost is the transport out to the restaurant?  Is there much of a view to be had from there?

The food at Adam''s is good (although not the best we''ve ever had in Kalkan). Adam is a lovely guy and the setting is simply stunning! Worth a visit for those reasons alone.

We came back last Friday, and we had two meals in the Korsan Meze which was still called by the same name. The Meze was deliclious.

I came to Kalkan for the first time last year and having eaten out most nights I found the quality of the restaurants amazingly good both at the lower and higher end of the price range. My favourite though for food, service and atmosphere was definitely Cafe Zula and it was the only one that I went back to several times for both lunch, afternoon tea and evening meals on the terrace. Last month I came back to Kalkan for 10 days and was pleased to find that cafe Zula was still there and that it was just as good as I had remembered. It is, however on a bit of a back street where not many people pass so probably doesn''t get as busy as some of the better known ones like Ibo''s or Trio but maybe that''s part of the appeal. It will definitely be my first port of call when I come back in October.

It''s on the little street that runs from the carpark where the new bars are to Pashas Bar just above the old trading house.

For what its worth these are my favourites and its because they are absoultely consistantly great some flashy some basic.

Trio (dress up and treat yourself to a night out at the harbour)
Ali Babas (not the soup kitchen one the roof terrace one on the way to the market)
Flower Tomato (basic but good)
Doy Doy

Not tried but heard great reports about

Kalamaki.  Ä°ts the old coast building and Tayfur who used to work for Ä°bo heard its great and if he is running it am sure it will be

Mousaka.  Ex Doy Doy staff (place used to be called Rammys) my mum went and said it was fab.
