« on: May 24, 2009, 06:34:38 PM »
We went to ''Chops'' at Islamlar last night and it''s absolutely superb - traditional lamb. You have to eat it to appreciate it. Cost for three of us inc wine, salad, chips etc. 114ytl.

Sounds wonderful.  I know Islamlar as we have stayed there 3 times, but I don''t know where Chops is, would you let me know where it is located?  I know Mahmouds, Degirmen and Bodamya.

Chops serves lamb tandir as well as the usual trout that you get in the other restaurants in Islamlar.
The lamb tandir is cooked in a specially built brick oven fired by oak. It is cooked by particially baking / partically steaming and this caused the fat to drip out of the meat. Ismail says they use organic lamb which graze in areas without pesticides. The result is the most delicious, tender meat.
We went up there for a birthday, started with meze, then the lamb and also he had arranged a birthday cake, and as Wendy says it was very reasonably priced.

Kevin, yes they do trout (from a small trout pool there) and barbecued chicken & meatballs. They have lovely homemade meze too.

Had a delicious meal at Chops today. The owner also showed us around the old mill in the village. He was talking of a special lamb night this coming Tuesday, he will cook the special lamb and meze for 30 tl a person. Unfortunately we leave on Monday so will miss it but worth a try for anyone who will be here. He said he will collect anyone from the village who wants to go, especially if you don''t have a car. You can contact him 0532 772 7612 if you want to book

Keep going up the hill past Mahmout''s trout farm (don''t turn off the road) and it''s on the left hand side of the road just before the village, with views of the pine tree valley. There are lots of new ''Chops'' signs strategically placed and counting down the distance as you drive along the road!! A very sweet place :)
