Tonic water
« on: May 15, 2009, 05:53:00 PM »
Just wondering if anyone can tell me if tonic water is available to buy in the supermarkets this year. I have read a few comments about slimline tonic not being available, but is the original for sale? We tried other mixers, but I''m afraid nothing beats a G&T for me. I wonder whether it is possible to buy some in the airport, can''t say I''ve ever looked before.

Tonic water is available in all the supermarkets.

Last September/October the Ssssssssh (you know who) bottling plant in Turkey had a problem & there was a shortage of tonic water. That led to many jokes on here & a certain EK ''helper'' hoarding the stuff - we''''l that''s what I reckon you did, Joan :D :D :D

If, for any reason, you can''t get it (most unlikely) I can recommend gin & orange juice!

No, Claire. No slimline tonic in Turkey...full stop! Don''t ask me why! I find the normal tonic too sweet, so I''m switching to gin and....well something new this year. I''ve given up trying to drink gin and "full fat" tonic whislt in Kalkan. Also, you can''t buy limes. A real G&T needs a slice of lime for me so I bring some from home usually...with a couple of bottles of slimline tonic (which sadly only lasts for the first week  :o !)
Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt :)

Try Gin with either pomegranate juice or visne topped up with soda. Works well with vodka too.

Cougar
type "limes" into the search box and you will get a whole load of info about limes in Kalkan. There are a couple of secret trees, but generally the "limes" picked off trees out in the open are just unripened lemons - apparently  ;)
