Cheap & Cheerfull
« on: May 14, 2009, 09:25:03 PM »
Hi all i have managed to persuade my brother in law and sister in law to fly out for a week in August to surprise the OH if the price is right for them as they are on a budget and they are looking for something cheap & cheerfull. Had a reply from Mustaphe at the Samira £360 b&b with transfers (which i thought wasn`t bad).£320 from Baris at the Nur + b&b???Has anyone stayed in the Swan apartments??Feedback would be welcome.
Any suggestions would be good.
They are after somewhere pretty central and its 2 adults and 1 child aged 13.
As for flights WOW the prices at the mo are rather steep.Cheapest that is coming back is in the region of £750 for the 3 of them.
we got ours last year for 4 of us at £600 for a month.Just goes to show if you book early nowadays.
Thanks in advance.Toffeelad

Hi toffeelad
The Nur has had a refurb recentley and the rooms are very good. The price seems reasonable and it''s in a good location.
Nothing is really work unless you would rather be doing something else.

You might also want to consider Pasha Apart hotel, not quite as central as Samira, but still only an easy stroll from town. Prices on their website quoted @ £275 per week. We stayed there a couple of years ago and the aparts are spotless and roomy and should be fine for a family of three.

With a 13 year old I''d go for the Samira.  Very central, large pool and plenty going on around the pool/bar area.  Remember the transfer alone would cost £100, so £260 for a week for 3 people, excellent value.

The Sevgi is pretty central and very cheap and cheerful. £250 per person for the flights in August is pretty good considering you are booking so late for budget flights.
Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt :)

I would highly recommend the Samira Hotel, it is probably the most central hotel you can get, it''s got a good swimming pool & activities to keep a 13 year amused, the hotel is clean, friendly, good fun & really nice, The Samira is a Thomas Cook hotel so maybe try & get a package holiday with them, may work out cheaper.

I think flight prices are getting higher & higher each year the more popular Turkey gets & August is peak season so more expensive.

Thanks for the feedback. Peronally i am inclined to go for the Samira as we have stayed there ourselves in the past and we now use it as our base every time we are over.
We know Pasha on the Kalamar rd which is run by Adele & her hubby we always pop in for a drink and a bite to eat. Also their son is the same age as ours so they get on fine.
Stayed at the Nur last year for a week can`t complain there either.
Thanks again will let you know when the in-laws have decided what they are doing. Cheers all.

The Samira has a block of FAB 3 bedroomed dublex apartments just behind the main building in town. Friends have just stayed there and they are great value for money (especially if like us we rarely manage to get up in time for breakfast!). you can still use the hotel facilities though the block has it''s own swimming pool.

Adele is no longer at Pasha - a new couple have taken it over - Imelda and Mark, they seem very nice and have done some refurbishıng and ıt''s looking good.
The Swan is grotty - definitely cross that off your list.
