Another trip to Cappadocia
« on: December 06, 2008, 10:24:47 AM »
Due to the success of the last trip, we have been asked by several people to organise another one.
If there is enough interest we will try to arrange this for 6th April 2009, probably for five days/ four nights.
The itinery will be much the same as last time, but with a bit of fine tuning.

Please contact M n M by PM with expressions of interest.

Hi M&M,

What great news!!  We were so sorry to miss the recent trip.  Please add both of us to your list.  We''re coming  back to Kalkan in March (probably early in the month) and will be staying through to the end of June so your dates are excellent.

Hope the winter is going well in Kalkan - for the first time in ages London has a completely clear blue sky today although it''s not very warm.

Alan

The comfirmed dates for this trip are 6th April to 11th April.
At the moment there are 23 people wishing to do this trip. We will need to collect some money for deposits for the hotels asap as we are using three this time and also for the bus.
The itinery is as follows:-
6th April - Depart Kalamar 05.30am.(Pick up times will be advised later). Stop   in Burdur for breakfast and then on
to Konya to visit the Mevlana Museum (long trousers and ladies must cover their heads) . Then on to the hotel in Aksaray.

7th April - Depart hotel at 09.0am. Visit Selime Monastery. Then to Ihlara Valley where there is a short
walk alongside the river. (The walk is easy, but those not wanting to walk will have other
places to visit) Lunch by the river. Next stop will be Kaymakli Underground City. Travelling
on to our hotel in Urgup we will pass Urgup View Point.

8th April - Early start for those people wanting to do the Hot Air Balloon trip (Highly recommended) We
must have names asap for this trip so that we can try to negotiate a good discount.
After breakfast we will visit Derbent, Pasabag, Pigeon Valley for lunch, Uchisar castle, Goreme
Valley view point. Also in the evening there will be opportunity to enjoy a Turkish night (very
good value and enjoyed by all who went last time)

9th April - Leave hotel at 09.00am to enjoy a stroll through Rose Valley and then on to Avanos for
lunch. Then on to either Zelve or Goreme open air museum and Ortahisar castle.

10thApril - Depart Urgup (time to be advised) for Side, visiting the Sultanhani Kervanseray on the way.
               Overnight stay in Side.

11thApril - Depart hotel to visit a few local historical sites. On to Aspendos to see the theatre . Return to Kalkan with lunch on the way.

We will try to stick to this itinery as much as we can, but you will appreciate that things like the weather are beyond our control. Let''s hope we are as lucky as last time.

Thanks for that John.
We are so pleased that everyone got along and enjoyed the trip as much as we did. Although we knew everyone on the trip, quite a few people didn''t know each other and the great thing is that they are now good friends.
We were so lucky with the weather, after the long journey up in the pouring rain.
Even though we have been to Cappadocia twice now, the scenery never ceases to amaze, something different around every corner.
We also thank Murat and Safter for doing an excellent job.
