Shop on Kalamar Road
« on: October 25, 2008, 09:39:52 PM »
Hi....just returned from a glorious 2 weeks in Kalkan. Heard that the shop on Kalamar Road in front of our apartment which is just past the Lizo Hotel, is to re-open at the end of this month!! The lady who has the shop on the left just before Pashas selling sun lotions, air beds etc (sorry can''t remember her name) is taking over the shop which is really good news for all of us who live near there.

Hi, I think her name is CanCan.  She had the li-lo shop opposite the Asfiya and we''re thrilled as it''s opposite our place.

That''s really good news, we''re next door, hopefully she will be selling bread, beer, wine etc and not just air beds.  ;D

Yes it has been open a month or so now
Useful for the basics -water - bread - eggs and they are selling Kup wine for 5TL a bottle
As the season approaches they intend to stock more products

5TL we could save a fortune, but before I get too excited what does Kup wine tastes like.

If its anything like the wine we got at Smiles Supermarket in the autumn (I''m sure it was called Kup) the red was very good for ''bulk'' consumption.  Quite light but well flavoured.  It comes in a fancy, corked bottle which could make a good base for a lamp - shades of Mateus Rose in the 60''s!!

When we were there at Christmas, popped into the shop to see what they stocked and when asked about a couple of items which they didn''t have, they immediately zoomed down into Kalkan and returned minutes later with said items.  That''s what I call service!  The family running it are lovely and really helpful.

Yes lovely people, today the Angora had not been delivered to the shop so they jumped on the scooter and collected a bottle for me from the village. Every day more goods, very helpful and very friendly.
