yelken apartments
« on: August 16, 2008, 09:16:51 PM »
Hi we are staying at the Yelken from Monday (18/08/2008) It''s hard to imagine until we are there I know but I am trying to get my bearings from reading these threads. It seems from the info I''ve received from the apartment owner that it is a fair walk into town. My husband is training so relishes the walk. I''m not and whilst a walk in the evening sounds good it doesn''t for the day time. Can anyone give me some idea where we are and if there is anything near us. We will be arriving in the middle of the night too, so plan on getting up some time the following day and strolling into town -thanks (only 48 hours to go yipee)

A fair walk sums it up, only one steepish hill about threequarters of the way back to the Yelken from Kalkan.  You can get bread, water, milk etc. from the Cafe Vita just across the road from the Yelken. This run by a lovely family and you can eat, drink and meet other locals and holidaymakers there. You can also break your walk with a refreshing drink and a yummy pancake at the stall half way and get a wonderful view of the bay at the same time. Good news as well is that you will be walking off loads of calories from the wonderful food.
Enjoy yourselves.

Hi Oneiros,

I have an apartment at the Yelken. I can confirm what Joan said about it being a fair walk. It is roughly 12-15 minutes at a steady pace, but it is all downhill. The only training part needed is the walk back but as already said there is only one steepish hill of about 100 yards. Stopping off at Cafe Vita is lovely and the spectacular views on the way down outway the walk itself. After burning off those cafe vita home made cakes you will be running it after the first couple of days!!!!

Enjoy your holiday.

Lew
